23.01.2022 And this folks is the reason why I needed to work out diameter and radius from circumference. A customer wanted to repurpose 3 cushion covers and make them into a pillowcase and a bolster.. worked out very well I think and hope it is very comfy for her clients to use. 23.01.2022 Who else has the fun job of sorting paperwork in your life? It has generally fallen to me and I am not liking it much this year, but gotta sort through tax stuff.. 20.01.2022 Things always come in multiples for me work wise.. it is either all hens or all black dresses.. this time it was all panels to be added. Different ways I have managed to make dresses fit.. all dresses were too small and had zips.. 1. Adding in panels in the back either side of the zip using the fabric off cuts from the hem.. this is not my preferred way as it shows the panels.. but as this lady will be wearing a coat to the event this will be covered. ... 2. Removed zip completely and added in a black stretch lace panel.. dress was stretch fabric and so was easy to add another contrasting stretch fabric to ensure it could still be put on 3. Removed zip completely and added in a lace up back Ideally of course it is best to return the dress and go the next size up and then get altered to your size around the bust etc, but in times of delayed postage and time constraints I can always make some plan to suit. #ashleywhitingcreative #lookgoodfeelfabulous #localalbanyseamstress #localalbanycreative

20.01.2022 Toile - French word for test garment Toile is a very good way to test out a garment and perfect the pattern prior to cutting out in the real fabric.. it enables me to fit the garment precisely to who it is meant for, make changes and implement the design the client is looking for.. I had a toile fitting today and whilst things are still fresh in my mind, I take apart the toile, transfer the changes to the paper pattern and make adjustments as required.. ... Do you make toiles for yourself or do you just dive straight in? 20.01.2022 Congratulations to Esther and Peter who got married on such a glorious day yesterday.. wishing you all the very best on your wonderful journey together.. Esther came to me needing some extensive work in two dresses.. I added a dark blue lace panel to the top of the light blue gown and also made her a lace overcoat.. For her granddaughters dress, I had to take in the shoulders, add straps, take up the hem add a modesty panel to make the bust not appear so revealing for the yo...ung lady.. The first day back is always a list writing and planning type of day for me, to prioritise current work ensuring I can do what I have set out to do, breaking down the big jobs into smaller more manageable size jobs.. List writing has always helped me achieve what I need to accomplish in a day, week, month,or in my case, school term. 12.01.2022 Some days a little retail therapy is required, plus there was a reason for it.. isn’t that always the case? I was tidying up my writing and drawing implements and thought I needed a fancy and pretty way to display them as well as making it easier to find what I needed. And thankfully @rosemaryandthymealbany always have these lovely vases to help me out.. plus who doesn’t love a browse around Rosemary’s shop.. one of my fav spots to get a unique gift too. Plus having ...a coffee next door at another fav spot of mine @bay_merchants So I guess what I am saying, is that we need to still support local and you will be pleasantly surprised what you can find.. in these times let’s look after local.. I sure appreciate all the business that comes my way. 11.01.2022 I have had the busiest week.. with a wedding dress out the door for a very happy bride to be, helping a soon to be mummy with her work uniform that needed a bit of expansion, fixing pockets on a coat, sewing lessons for clients that are keen to learn more sewing and a few other bits and bobs in between .. 10.01.2022 Stunning, epic, incredible.. I can’t think of any other words to describe a very beautiful shot of Michelle and her now husband Andrew. The weather was a bit of a factor in their day but they used it to their advantage and the photos are incredible... I did hours of fiddly lace work to Michelle’s dress and it all paid off and I love how beautiful she looks.. in fact what a good looking bunch!! wouldn’t you agree..? ... 09.01.2022 I am very proud of my student Katie who returned to me after the covid lockdown and has been diligently working away on her dress.. She has some fabulous ideas of which she wanted to include in the design of dress which all had to be made from op shop garments or stuff in a stash already.. she loves lace, white and pin tucks.. I am pleased at how far she has come and with what she has achieved and wants to achieve.
