21.01.2022 Positions Vacant - due to circumstances beyond their control, our two lovely parents who have been in the roles of Vice President and Secretary of our P&C can no longer continue. Our AGM is coming up on March 16, at 1.30pm in the Conference Room. All 4 of the Executive positions become vacant at this time and nominations are accepted (and voted upon if more than one nomination for a position is received). What does the Vice President do? Attend P&C Meetings, and be involv...ed in P&C decisions. Stand in to chair the meetings if the President is not available. What does the Secretary do? Attend P&C Meetings, and be involved in P&C decisions. Take the minutes for the meeting. (Can record and take down later if that suits). Email us at [email protected] or DM us here, and we can send you a nomination form. Look forward to seeing you at the meeting, we rely on our wonderful parents to provide such a great ongoing service to our school. Thank you!

19.01.2022 Container Refund Scheme Update: We appreciate it if you can talk to your children about Sustainability and encourage them to put their containers into the bin with the yellow lid in the tuckshop mall. Or when you drop off your containers to a depot, you can use our ID Number: C10125043 - which supports our Kitchen Garden Program :-). Thank you so much!!

18.01.2022 Parents/Carers/Father’s Day Stall: The P&C has worked hard to source wonderful gifts for Dads, Mums and Carers for the stall this year. Thank you for your support of our fundraisers, all funds raised are going towards grandstand seating for the multi sports courts. The stall will be held in the Hall on Wed 2 and Thurs 3 September. Classes will be coming through the stall, and children can choose their gifts. Due to having to be being cashless, we will be unable to give c...hange, so please choose the value of your voucher carefully. The helpers at the stall will help your child spend whatever your choice of voucher is. As well, we have a choice of special packs ready to go in the value of each voucher. You can make a purchase & print the receipt at flexischools.com.au. Your child will need to bring their Flexischools receipt to the stall to purchase their gifts. N.B. If you do not have access to a printer, you can email us your receipt and we'll print it out and send through to the classroom. Orders need to be done at flexischools.com.au by Monday 31 August at 4.00pm. You can order through their App, or go directly to: https://www.flexischools.com.au/

17.01.2022 At our Zoom P&C Meeting today, we decided to include our Mother's Day stall into a celebration of Parents & Carers - hopefully held around our Father's Day Stall date in Sept, we'll keep you posted. So Dad's - apologies! You have a few days to go before Mother's Day to find a gift for that awesome mother of your children! We love celebrating all our wonderful parents.

16.01.2022 Dear Ashmore Parents, As announced, your children will be learning from home for the first 5 weeks of Term 2 and I am sure you all have a lot of questions and concerns. These following points may be a great support in clarifying questions and concerns you may have. We all just want the very best for our children, and we hope this eases your mind. 1. DON'T DO ANYTHING YET! Don't buy $100 worth of resources, don't stay up until 2am Google searching programs to print off. Ther...e is too much out there at the moment preying on your insecurities. 2. YOU CAN STILL WORK FROM HOME, YOU WON'T BE 'TEACHING'- Homeschooling is the wrong phrase. We will email, send packages, whatever may be needed. You will just be supervising them completing the work. If you or they don't know what to do, contact the teacher. They will explain to the child, or provide alternatives to help them. You don't have to be a teacher, just a supervisor. 3. BE REALISTIC- You do not have to 'set up a classroom'. They don't have to be working ALLLLL day. The teacher will be checking off who is working, by gathering physical or digital evidence. It will not be all up to you. 4. GIVE YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER A MINUTE- When you ask a question, it may take 24 hours to reply. If you can't do something until they explain it- DON'T! Just use it as an excuse to chill out. Teachers are not going to be critically analyzing every piece of work. We will scan for issues and problems, as we do walking around the classroom. But we are not expecting 100 percent correct answers and a 2000 word essay from a 9 year old. 5. DON'T GET CAUGHT UP IN 'MUM SHAMING'- There is already a lot of it. People showing perfect houses, setting up enriching and engaging activities they are doing with their children. Which leads you to feel guilty, because your kid has been eating biscuits and watching TV. 'My child will be left behind, I am a terrible parent ruining the future of my baby'. Don't fall trap to the 'SOCIAL MEDIA' lives people are portraying. They have taken a still frame image of a 10 minute section of their day, applied filters and over exaggerated their words in their status. Do what you have to do. Yes, things are going to happen in the next few months that normally wouldn't. They will probably have too much screen time. Screen time may not even be bad- check out the ABC's educational TV schedule. Your house will look messier. You may have a night where you eat waffles and ice cream for dinner. Give yourself a break. Your little ones may be scared. They may not show it, but they have lost their routine. They are hearing big words that they don't know how to comprehend. They need hugs, not being yelled at by a stressed mum or dad, who are doing things that are not really needed. Their education will recover. Their mental health may not. Look after yourselves. Our wonderful Ashmore teachers and school community are here to support you.

15.01.2022 Schools are staying open.

15.01.2022 Happy National Volunteer Week! Let’s celebrate those whose generous spirits make such a difference in our community. #NVW2020 #PandCDay2020

14.01.2022 Thank you to our Parent Representatives who suggested this sign! We have had so many dangerous close calls with children walking or running through the carpark - we hope this helps. Access to the school is only through the main gates, not through the staff carpark.

13.01.2022 Bookweek 2020 - Congrats to our School Exec and Office Staff for their awesome costumes, and our own P&C President Ron Odle was a great Aladdin too!

11.01.2022 We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support of our school's Container Refund Scheme in the last 3 terms since we began in 2019. Unfortunately given the current circumstances we have had to temporarily cease operations of our container refund scheme until further notice. If you have any further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. We look forward to carrying on the program soon. :-)

10.01.2022 Please see the classroom count from the last 2 weeks for the Container Refund Scheme. Well done to all classes for the great recycling. If you have any eligible containers at home, feel free to bring them in and place them in your child’s classroom recycle bin. Not only does this raise money for school projects, but it also adds points to the children’s class recycle tally.

10.01.2022 Ashmore State School P&C Out of School Hours Care currently has a casual educator position available, starting on Monday 14th September 2020. 10.01.2022 Ashmore’s bush tucker garden has been one of our ongoing projects for the last 1.5 years. With the help of students during their lunch breaks, our school groundskeeper and P&C volunteers, the garden now looks as great as it did back in 2011. Great work to everyone involved!

09.01.2022 In Term 3 we saw the return of our Container Refund Scheme. On Friday last week the year 5's made their way around to each classroom to collect the recycle bins and here are the results! Great work to each class! Emily Smith Ashmore State School P&C OSHC

08.01.2022 Please see the classroom count from the last 3 weeks for the Container Refund Scheme. Well done to all classes for the great recycling. If you have any eligible containers at home, feel free to bring them in and place them in your child’s classroom recycle bin. 07.01.2022 Message from our P&C President Ron Odle: Dear Parents and Carers, Firstly I would like to thank each and every-one of you for your combined efforts as we travail through these uncertain and unprecedented times due to COVID-19. Your adherence to the government guidelines is what is taking our state beyond the curve as we slowly get to the other side of this pandemic. However, there is still plenty to do and we all must be conscious to continue to do the things to keep all memb...ers our community safe. Term 2 has seen our schools open albeit with restricted access available to vulnerable students and those students of families of essential workers only. Most other children will be experiencing some form of remote learning and despite some hiccoughs during the first week of term all seems to be going well. For those that are in attendance at our school I would like to say that our P&C will still operate the Tuckshop and Uniform shop on a daily basis but with limited stock options available in the Tuckshop. I would like to encourage everyone that uses our facilities, and if they have not done so already, to use Flexischools for ordering. In our effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 we would like to reduce the amount of cash handling at our school and ordering online is one way to ensure we lessen the chances of virus transmission amongst our staff. Finally I would like to acknowledge all the essential workers from our community and all of the staff here at Ashmore for their tireless efforts to help us, as parents and carers, get through these troubling times. Stay in, Stay Safe. Ron Odle President

07.01.2022 Last week of the term! Just letting you know tuckshop will be closed on Friday. Have a great holiday.

07.01.2022 Thank you Bob,@councillorboblacastra, for supporting our Ashmore Community, we look forward to everyone coming down for our GCCC event Movies under the Stars, Toy Story 4 on Sat 29th Feb at Ashmore State School oval from 5pm

06.01.2022 P&C Executive Position Vacant - Our hard working Treasurer of many years is moving to Melbourne soon - thank you so much for all your help and support over the years Sonia Carter-Amani - we wish you and your family every success with your move. Ashmore Parents/Carers - this is your opportunity to be involved in the decision making of what school projects P&C funds go towards. What is needed to be a Treasurer at Ashmore SS P&C? Everyday bookkeeping and payroll is done by o...ur P&C Operations Manager and our BAS agent looks after the BAS - every year we get a 'Well done' on our audit. You may know the rest of the P&C Exec - myself, Tamara Hellwig and Rachelle Cooke. Payments need to be authorized through Comm Bank, so you'll need to become a signatory on the P&C accounts. Then you can do the rest online - 10 mins a fortnight authorizing payments along with the other Exec members. If you can make the P&C meetings, that would be awesome - at present being held on Zoom, so that's really easy too! Please feel free to Direct Message with your inquiries - or just join in to Monday's P&C meeting at 1.30pm - Zoom Meeting ID: 82335069998 Password: 880767 We look forward to hearing from you soon. Cheers, Ron Odle P&C President

05.01.2022 Here's a great exercise we can do with our kids: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=UXlb1GU8TQE

03.01.2022 Next week the P&C is supporting NAIDOC day (Nov 13) by providing special meal deals. This is a great opportunity to try some 'bush tucker' ingredients. Our normal Friday menu will be reduced. Please place your order at flexischools.com.au by Tuesday 10 November, 4.00pm.

03.01.2022 We'd like to say a huge thank you to Peter, who is both a volunteer for the P&C and a staff member of our OSHC. Peter spends many hours around the school volunteering for our container refund scheme, maintaining our edible gardens, helping with P&C fundraisers, and helping in our school tuckshop.Thank you for all that you do Peter. We appreciate it!

03.01.2022 Fathers Day/Parents and Carers Stall. A few photos of some of the goodies available. As we were required to go cashless, we worked very hard to cater to some 600 Flexischools orders, and we hope you and your family have a great weekend. Thank you to our amazing volunteers who helped out with set up yesterday and helping the children who came through the stall. ... Tamara Hellwig, Ron Odle, Dannyelle Cameron, Judith Reid, Erin McCormick, Monique Willis, Miss Angela (from the OSHC), Miss Chris (from the tuckshop), and Peter Mooney - thank you for your help and support See more

02.01.2022 Tomorrow is the last day for tuckshop this term! It is closed on Friday for stocktake/cleaning so please remember to pack lunch on Friday! Holidays start from next Monday 21 September and school goes back for Term 4 from Tuesday 06 October. Monday 05 October is a public holiday so both school and the OSHC will be closed then. OSHC is open and there are still vacancies if anyone requires care. Please be aware that unlike the last two lots of school holidays fees will apply for care during this time as the free childcare initiative has now ended.

02.01.2022 Today's harvest from the Kitchen Garden. The students really enjoyed Garden Club this morning.

02.01.2022 Hi Everyone! I'm sure by now everyone is aware we have an election coming up at the end of the month, and it would obviously be un-Australian to be expected to go and vote and not be able to buy a democracy sausage. With this in mind our P&C will be holding a sausage sizzle and cake stall on the day (March 28). If you've got some free time to come and help on the day (10-2ish) that would be wonderful, but we will also looking for donations of baked goods to sell on the day too. I will confirm details but I assume as per last time baked goods will be able to be dropped off at the tuck shop on the Friday before the election :)

02.01.2022 A message from our CRS Team - Emily Smith & Peter Mooney: "Congratulations to 6E/2B and 1C/1D for being our recycle warriors for Term 3 for our Containers for Change program. Overall, in just one term our school managed to recycle 2,929 containers.... This is an amazing result. Thank you for everyone's contribution in making this possible."
