17.01.2022 I met a girl todayI guess its best to call her a woman. She doesnt see herself the way she is, but I do. Her words are beautiful, her layers deep. She decided to go on an adventure, on a trail shed never taken before. She had an idea of the destination she sought, but wasnt insistent on it, remaining open to allowing her path to unfurl before her.... As she journeyed her way up the mountain, solo, she wasnt afraid to engage in conversation with strangers. How often people walk by with no exchange, but she acknowledges everyone around her, as if she sees everyone in her presence as a gift that she warmly accepts into her world. She is observant and meticulous too. Its rare that she crosses a boundary that doesnt warrant crossing. She assesses, then takes a mindful step, even when it pushes her to the point of discomfort. And one might think it would stop there, but there is more: Her laugh is full of joy. Her tears are filled with depth. Her words carry wisdom. Her presence holds space. But she can also do a total 180 and joyfully act like a kid, which shows you she is real. Ohand I almost forgot to mention, she is smart. Crazy smart. She knows people and she knows business, giving her the character of a loving shark. But what makes this amazingly beautiful, almost perfect individual not quite complete is that she cannot fully see herself. When she looks into a mirror, she only sees her exterior and quickly picks away at it. When she connects with another and falls deeply in love, she takes no credit. When she walks away from a life altering experience, she struggles to pause and take ownership of the fact that she herself was a part of the creation. She fails in the way that so many of us fail: to truly see and accept the beauty and gifts we all have within. One dayand I feel that day is coming soonshe will see herself completely. She will accept that all the pieces of her are one whole, so that she doesnt have to live divided, leading her to easily fall apart. One day, I will see all of this and know that there is no need to search outside myself, because she has always been here inside of me.

08.01.2022 My youngest son, Archibald. I know you wish you were born first but we all arrive at the right time for our journey. This year was a big one for you, losing 3 baby teeth, difficult friendships with your sensitive soul, always being ‘bored’, but your brave heart and big spirit pushed you out of your comfort zone. You learnt to jump from 5m diving boards within an hour of trying the beginner height of 3m, so brave and so funny. You always offer to help out when you can and love to try everything once. Larger than life, you drive me crazy with your impatient little bursts of wanting things now, but it reminds me of how important it is to learn patience (especially when you test mine). Seven years on this earth and every year you make me proud, if not scared of what is to come as you grow. I love you. Happy 7th Birthday, son.

08.01.2022 How has isolation been for you this week? This is our 4th week at home and as lucky as I feel to be in such a peaceful location, my mind has been struggling with having to be in one place, aside from our daily walk and essential shop. My children are starting to feel their own pressures, why cant they go to the park, why is the beach off limits, why cant we fly to Sydney to visit our friends and family? As a parent Im feeling guilty, under stimulated, should be doing more..., but really just trying to get through each day without having a meltdown of my own. Keeping busy around the house on little projects like growing our own vege garden has been such a great way to put my mind to something (but the poor little seedlings might be feeling over loved at the moment as I visit them a few times each day ).
