14.01.2022 We've noticed a regular occurence on our audits of construction sites- non compliant roof edge protection. Are you aware of the requirements for edge protection on roofs above 3m? As per the Code of Practice for Prevention of Falls at Workplaces, unless a fall injury prevention system is used, every open edge must have a combination of top rails, mid rails AND kick boards, or mesh guards may be used as a substitute. Contact us for further information.

13.01.2022 "Hazard" v "Risk". An integral part of risk assessment is knowing the difference between the two. Whilst the two concepts are closely linked, "risk" refers to outcomes/consequences, whereas "hazard" relates to a source of risk. Risk is about uncertainty and is context and circumstance dependent. Hazards, on the other hand, are either present or not. This may help you when developing your Job Safety Analysis or Safe Work Method Statement. Contact us for assistance in ensuring your JSA or SWMS identifies all hazards and related risks.
