23.01.2022 If you are a business owner Don't go from crisis to stasis! The coronavirus crisis will change the world of commerce. As a business owner, your job is not just to keep afloat, but also to assess long term prospects.... The article points out three critical trends emerging from the current crises that are relevant business owners. They are: 1 Need for quicker adaption of new technologies. All businesses are currently taking a crash course in e-commerce, digital payments and remote working. (At least the ones who wants to come out better and more competitive when this crisis ends.) 2 Lesson on how to strengthen the business's supply-chain-resilience. For example relying on a single supply source or not carrying enough inventory (safety stock) could be detrimental to any business. (Yes, it is against the norms of cost minimisation thinking of owners - but it is a delicate balance). Although the scale of the disruption experienced by businesses currently is unpredictable, the ability to develop strategies and adapt to this situation will determine which companies will emerge more robust in the other end of this crisis. 3 Cross-border, investments may drop. Instead, companies would look for critical mass production closer to home with more automated and faster production facilities.
