25.01.2022 From all the family at the Ashfield/Leichartd SES, we hope you all have a great Easter. We know its tough not to be able to spend Easter in the traditional way but lets all stay home and stay safe!



23.01.2022 Team ‘ASL Banksia’ braving the freezing weekend to get as much points they can on this year’s Navshield. The team is doing the 2 days (Saturday - Sunday), navigating on a big area of Kanangra Walls NP searching for markers and checkpoints. They also planned their route where they will camp somewhere along the way. To the four of yous.... Good luck, be safe, & enjoy!

17.01.2022 Day 2 of the Chainsaw Training. Volunteers from Ashfield-Leichhardt & Holroyd Units learned how to operate and maintain chainsaws. Chainsaw is one of the equipment used by NSW SES, like in a situation where tree or part of a tree had fallen due to storm and becomes a hazard to people or property, qualified chainsaw operator should be able cut/remove the tree safely.

14.01.2022 Today we pay our respects to emergency services volunteers who have sadly lost their lives while protecting their communities. The annual Emergency Services Vol...unteer Memorial Service is being held in Sydney with NSW SES, NSW Rural Fire Service, Marine Rescue NSW, and the Volunteer Rescue Association at 11am. 09.01.2022 GUSTY STORMS THROUGH THE SYDNEY METRO AREA Weather Situation: Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours.... A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of NSW this afternoon including the Sydney Metro area The State Emergency Service advises that people should: Move your car under cover or away from trees. Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid on 131 388, or Endeavour Energy on 131 003 or Essential Energy on 132 080, as shown on your power bill. Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. Unplug computers and appliances. Avoid using the phone during the storm. Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. 06.01.2022 Next Wednesday is the annual "Wear Orange Wednesday", a day in which the nation gets to say Thank you to all SES members and affiliates. Lets remember, its also a day for us to celebrate each other so lets get out our best orange outfits, take a picture and post it on social media with the hashtag #THANKYOUSES or #WOWDAY
