17.01.2022 UPDATE - thank you for nominations emailed to date. To be eligible to go into the draw for a potential gift, Nominations MUST: * Be emailed privately to [email protected] NOT tagged on facebook or messaged. * Be for someone external to your family ie not your own children, but someone else who could do with some cheer outside of your own family and household. This our chance to work together as a community to support each other, and connect with people in a year ...we have all felt disconnected. * Include childs age and general interest and/or gender (if relevant). * Be mindful of privacy concerns - we do not need intimate details of the family’s life, however any information shared will be absolutely kept in the strictest confidence by only 3 volunteers in our team. To our Amazing Asperlutely Autsome Families We have been given a limited number of items, to share with some children from our community. 2020 has been super tough on everyone, and for some, even more so. So this year we are going to do things a little differently. We are asking you, our community, to nominate another person or family. This must be someone from our autism community. They may be a quiet achiever, someone who wouldn't nominate themselves or someone who could really do with cheering up. Cut off time for nominations will be Sun 29th Nov at 8pm, email to: [email protected] Please include age and general interest of children in your email.

To extend my knowledge, I hope to gain your opinion about how Autism has influenced your child’s diet/dietary habits. By filling out my survey, you will be supplying me with vital information that will ...benefit my research processes immensely. Please click on the following link to do the survey. 06.01.2022 We understand this past week has been messy and confusing and has caused lots of extra anxiety in our community. Please be patient with us while we work out what we will definitely be doing with our regular programs. We don’t want to add any more uncertainty than we have to, so have decided we will not run any of our programs this week while we figure it all out! This will impact the Mix South for this Thursday evening and Lego Club North this coming Saturday, which will n...ot be running this week. Stay tuned regarding programs for next week! Different venues have different capacity and rules, and Covid restrictions may ease further, so we will chat to all our partners and venues and get back to you as soon as we can. We may even run some holiday days to make up for missed sessions. We still have our AGM via Zoom this Friday evening, please see our website for details. We hope to return to our regular programming soon! Image description: Colourful TV test pattern with the text ‘No Signal. Please stand by...’

03.01.2022 Hi Autsome Families We have been informed that there will be no Christmas Party at the Zoo this year. Unfortunately a lot of regular events are being cancelled, all over the world. We were really hoping it may have still gone ahead, considering our covid-19 situation in SA. Hopefully things start improving everywhere, so we can get back to our "new normal" way of life. On behalf of all our Asperlutely Autsome volunteers, we thank you for your understanding. Thanks, Kylie ...**edited to add** gifts will only be going to some schools, not all community groups. So, we will not be able to give them out this year https://www.facebook.com/399450220128357/posts/4477914758948529/?sfnsn=mo See more

02.01.2022 Dear Community members, The circuit breaker restrictions that are now active in SA are stressful for everyone. We are thinking of everyone who has worries, lost work, cancelled events or are struggling in any way right now. Essential services including foodbanks and shopping centres remain open. Please reach out to someone if times are particularly tough for you right now. We will post some support idea links soon. Lets support each other as a community as best we all can.... One thing you can do as a concerned community member is be aware that there are some people who do not look like they have a disability, or mental health issues or health problems, and that there is room within the rules for the life saving extra supports they may need. Please hold off judgement if you see any of the following, they may well have reason within the risk and essential supports of vulnerable people clauses within the full ruling, and they may have exemptions in place: * people out or in shops with another adult or child - they may be there with a support worker, or with a vulnerable person who cannot be left alone. This is ok, if they have no other option. * support workers coming and going from a home, providing essential supports. This is ok. *Someone leaving the house when there is a crisis/severe risk eg a meltdown, or if someone’s behaviour in the home is unsafe for them or others, or there may be an exemption in place for other reasons. * Someone not wearing a mask because they cannot manage the sensory overload, or feel as though they can’t breathe - masks are strongly encouraged but not mandated. We encourage everyone to follow the rules for everyone’s safety, and not to take advantage of the clauses for vulnerable people and safety without good reason, but also to bear in mind that there are people in our community - who are mentioned in the full rules, who due to disability, mental health or high risk may need to follow them a little differently to others. Please stay polite and friendly, people are already aware they stand out if they cannot get their loved ones to wear a mask, or are leaving their home when others are not, or have support workers visiting. If any of our community do fall in to the exemptions for high risk, safety or health reasons we encourage you to contact ask your support team to work out a safety plan and, if needed, write you a letter to say what is necessary for you to apply for exemptions through SA Health, or ring the Covid hotline to work out where you stand within the directives. SA gov Q and A link: https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/restrictions-an/stay-at-home The full rulings are below, for those who like details! https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au//EMA-Stay-at-HomeCOVID-19-D
