23.01.2022 ACT public health emergency extended until Thursday 19 November COVID-19 and its related impacts will be around for some time. That’s why the Public Healt...h Emergency in the ACT will be extended for a further 90 days until Thursday 19 November. The declaration gives the ACT Chief Health Officer the power to continue to take the necessary actions required to manage the public health risks posed by the virus. Remember, we all need to do our part to keep our community safe. Keep 1.5 metres apart from others whenever possible Continue good hand and respiratory hygiene Stay home if you’re unwell, and Get tested if you’re experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. We’re fortunate that Canberra is in a strong position, but this is not a time for complacency. We want to stay COVID-free to continue our path to recovery. Working together gives us the best chance of stopping the spread and keeping COVID 19 out of the Territory. Please visit the ACT COVID-19 website for the latest updates www.covid19.act.gov.au

01.01.2022 **UPDATE - Sunday 22 September - Latest hourly readings show air quality is very good in the ACT with no ongoing public health risk. Read the update here https:...//bit.ly/2mmqr7R** Health alert: Air quality in Canberra is deteriorating due to increased dust levels. ACT Health's air quality monitoring stations have registered higher levels of dust particles reducing the air quality. The community is advised to take the following precautions to minimise health impacts of dust: staying indoors with windows and doors closed staying in air-conditioned premises and switching the air-conditioner to ‘recycle’ or ‘recirculate’ to reduce the amount of dust entering the building avoiding vigorous exercise, especially if you have a heart or lung condition Anyone with concerns about their health should seek medical advice from their health practitioner. Anyone experiencing wheezing, chest tightness or difficulty breathing should seek urgent medical assistance. In the event of a medical emergency call triple zero 000. ACT Health will continue to monitor the air quality in the ACT and will advise the public if additional public health advice is warranted. For more information, refer to our dust fact sheet http://bit.ly/ACTdust-factsheet For information on current air quality, visit our web page http://bit.ly/airqualityACT For further information on weather conditions, visit www.bom.gov.au
