22.01.2022 Well, playing school sport may be out for kids at the moment but that doesn't mean we can't shine the spotlight on some of our great Qld kids who made rep teams this year. A4K had committed to providing funding support for them to go but alas... So, we are still going to shine the spotlight on them over the next little while - stay tuned!

21.01.2022 Chloe Whittaker is both an aspiring and inspiring athlete. She has 45% hearing loss and incurable, chronic lung disease (Bronchiectasis) and Asthma. She also has a pulmonary valve stenosis heart defect for which she has already had 2 lots of heart surgery. Chloe Whittaker, a 2017 A4K Celebration of Sport Award winner, made another rep side this year for the Qld under 15's Rugby League QSS State Championships in Cairns and was due to compete in May this year.... Unfortunately, the event was cancelled due to COVID-19 but that doesn't mean that her achievements can't still be celebrated. She and her family moved to Brisbane in 2018 from Hervey Bay and this was the first time she trialed and made rep level for the Met East Region. A4K has previously supported Chloe when she represented Wide Bay in AFL om 2017 and again in 2018. Chloe is fully aware of her disability and she keeps trying, giving all that she can, she is not one for giving up easily. She just wants to continue playing sport for as long as she can so she can be like everyone else and make friends and have fun. Chloe also never gives up and tries her very hardest to try out for all zone, district sides and regional sides to represent her school. Previously, when Chloe is on the field playing or training she normally stays on the side where she can hear the best if she is having difficulty with that she looks and watches the hand signals the other team members are doing so she can read the play. She now plays with a hearing aid and has breathing equipment. In her mum's words... "Nothing stops her. She gets knocked down, she gets back up. Chloe always says giving up is not an option! We think you are a legend Chloe and can't wait to support you again.

21.01.2022 Hope everyone is keeping safe in these most unusual times. Like everyone else at this time, A4K is also in hibernation. We are looking forward to school sport starting up again and will be ready to assist kids to play sport when we can.... Stay posted.

09.01.2022 Eva Parish from Varsity College on the Gold Coast was so excited to be representing at the SSA National Triathlon Championships in March this year. Sadly the decision was made to cancel all SSA Comps for the rest of the year meaning that Eva was not able to compete. Eva volunteers to the community in her surf club, doing regular patrols, water safety for younger kids & mentoring in skills for younger kids.... Eva has always been a dedicated athlete who trains very hard & has represented Varsity at Nationals in cross country & athletics placing in top 3. She is a great role model to others. We know that this hurdle will not stop Eva from getting right back into her sports as soon as she can and A4K look forward to being there right alongside her with funding support.

06.01.2022 A4K is looking forward to supporting many Qld families in 2020

03.01.2022 Even Olympians like A4K Ambassador, Cate Campbell know the heartache of not being able to compete in your chosen sport at times. This video is just a little reminder that we are all in this together and also to remember why we love kids playing sport - the social, physical and mental benefits are immeasurable.
