23.01.2022 This week year six students enjoyed exploring Brisbane, our state capital. They attended Parliament House and learnt about democracy. They respectfully honoured the Police officers who have fallen, by visiting a special memorial at the Brisbane Botanical Gardens.

To recognise the donation, you will be given a sticker which provides you a $2.00 discount at QBD Books for the purchase of childrens or young persons titles.... 16.01.2022 A big Aspley CONGRATULATIONS to Grace L on her participation in the Middle School State Honours Ensemble program over the weekend at the Queensland Conservatorium. Grace enjoyed the challenge of the repertoire and is keen to do it again next year when she is in high school.

14.01.2022 The Junior Band performed their debut concert today at lunch break. Our three songs were Beethovens Ninth, Bandroom Blues and Zombie Stomp. Congratulations to our Junior players!

14.01.2022 Most of the Yr 1 students had their turn this week for our mural project. They did a great job and had fun. The students wrote about being excited to paint too. Look at their neat writing and great illustration. Have a great weekend!

The students in the Early Act Group will go to each class on this Friday 4 December 2020 and next Tuesday 8 December 2020. 13.01.2022 This week is the beginning of Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. At Aspley State School we are grateful and very fortunate to have a team of amazing and nurturing teacher aides who are great contributors to the success and achievement of students at our school.

13.01.2022 Dear Parents / Carers All the $5 remembrance badges were sold out on Monday 9 November 2020. Thank you to our 4 school captains (Arrabella, Kate, Cameron and Viraaj), our Mitchell Captain Austin and senior leaders (Alex, Oliver and Oscar) for going around classes to sell the badges. So far we have achieved more than $650. Some students were disappointed that they missed out. Geebung RSL has a stand outside of Coles in the Hypermarket if you would like to buy any badges. Howev...er at school we still have some poppies ($2) and 16 pens ($5). The pens are of very good quality. They are for sale at our Admin Office till tomorrow (Wednesday 11 November). All profits from the sale will be directed to the Welfare Support of ex-service personnel We thank you sincerely for all the support so far.

12.01.2022 Today our School Captains attended the Battle for Australia Commemoration Service which honours those service men and women who served on land, sea and air in the South and South West Pacific campaigns in 1942 -1945. The ceremony also incorporated a thoughtful reflection on the 75th Anniversary of VJ Day, at the end of World War II.

12.01.2022 Good afternoon Parents / Carers Here is some information regarding Book Week 2020 : The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) who run the Book Week and associated activities have moved Book Week, for this year only, to the week of October 17-23. The theme is still Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. ... We will be holding our annual Aspley State School Book Week Parade on Monday 19 October. This will be running to a Covid-19 format, so there will be no parent/carer spectators. Classes will parade to other year levels holding the book that inspired their choice of costume.

07.01.2022 Dear Parents / Carers As per our previous post last week regarding the Remembrance Badges, the Year 6 leaders will go around the classes this Friday (6 November 2020) and next Monday (9 November 2020) to let the students to purchase the badges. Each costs $5 and all profits from the sale will be directed to the Welfare Support of ex-service personnel.... 06.01.2022 Diwali is the Indian festival of lights, usually lasting five days and celebrated during the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika. 1C, 1JB and 1H. Have been inquiring around this incredible festival. We have made beautiful lanterns, rangoli art, written short sentences and sharing yummy traditional food.

01.01.2022 An update on Our Fun Sock Friday taken place on last Friday of Term 2. Thank you to all participating students, parents and staff, we managed to raise $645.60 towards the annual sponsorship of $820 for Benson in Lusaka, Zambia.
