22.01.2022 Just a reminder, there is a planned burn-off of fuel loads in the lower Todd River after 6:30 tonight. NT Fire and Rescue together with Bushfires NT will be con...ducting a hazard reduction burn of fuel loads near the race course stables along the western bank of the river in a northerly direction, with a finishing ETA of 10:30pm. The hazard reduction burn is part of the Lhere Mparntwe Management Strategy to minimise damage and/or loss of the river red gums in the Todd River. It's expected to get smoky in the area, so if you live/work/socialise nearby and are affected by smoke, please ensure you take the relevant precautions; * Stay indoors * Close windows and doors, * Turn off the evaporative air-conditioner, or switch your split system to recycle or recirculate to reduce smoke coming into your home. * People with asthma should follow their personal asthma plan * Seek medical assistance if required.

20.01.2022 Bushfires NT joined forces with NT Fire and Rescue Services to announce the start of the 2020/21 Central Australian Fire Danger Period, at a launch in Alice Spr...ings yesterday. Bushfires are a part of life in the Territory, but you can prepare in advance to help to save lives, assets and the environment. Now is the time to ensure you and your property are ready for a bushfire. Plan and prepare now. Fires are dangerous, and despite reduced fuel loads due to the ongoing dry conditions, fires moved quickly and present challenges to fire crews working to contain them." - Chief Fire Control Officer, Andrew Turner. Does this light your fire? Burning with questions??? Well lucky for you we prepared a lil something something earlier. 19.01.2022 APPRECIATION IN THE ALICE Wednesday night Bushfires NT recognised and celebrated our wonderful volunteers of Central Australia for their dedicated work througho...ut 2020, assistance interstate and meritorious service. The Central Australian 2020/2021 fire season is about to begin with hopes it will be a quieter one than that of the the Top End. On behalf of the NSW Premier Simon Casey, Ryan Casey, Blake Debney, Mitchell Uzzell and Jacob Skipsy were recognised for their contribution and service to the NSW 2019-2020 emergency response. Well done guys, you did us proud! Volunteer Long & Meritorious Service medals were proudly presented to Mitchell Uzzell and Amanda Houston. Mitchell has been a volunteer with the brigade since 2011, Committee Member for the past 5 years and recently stepped up as Public Officer. Mitchell is always willing to promote the brigade and encourage new members, assist in training and this year provided much needed fire fighting assistance in the Top End and interstate. His commitment to his community and genuine kind nature is a pleasure to work with. Thank you Mitchell. Amanda has been the backbone of the brigade serving as Treasurer and Secretary for the majority of her time, often juggling both roles. Her caring and passionate nature has significantly influenced the strength of the brigade and their ability to retain members. Amanda’s management support, time and effort has been invaluable and her mothering nature has earnt her the title of 'mum'. Thank you 'Mum' for your all your support. Thank you to all our volunteers for your ongoing support. Thank you and stay safe.
