17.01.2022 Congratulations to all of the Year 7 and 8 ICAS competition participants. AGHS received awards in the Distinction, Credit, and Merit categories. These are fantastic achievements and the school is proud of each student who participated in this rigorous challenge. 16.01.2022 Our Library is such a vibrant learning space during class time, during breaks, and before and after school. Not only do the students use the library as a place to study, read for pleasure, research and conduct meetings, but also engage in innovative activities such as building an electronic arm in our STEM maker space. The Library is a safe and fun place where students can come together to play board games or work collaboratively in a virtual environment. Here are some photos of students doing a variety of activities in our Library over the first few weeks of this term.

04.01.2022 The TAS faculty were joined by members of the DET StemT4L this week. AGHS have been lucky enough to be issued with two Virtual Reality kits for the duration of Term 4 and Term 1, 2021. These kits contain handheld VR headsets, 360 degree cameras, router, iPhones and teacher iPad. The TAS staff learnt about the different ways VR headsets, 360 degree cameras and Augmented Reality technology can be used in the classroom to provide students with an engaging way of learning. Very exciting times!

03.01.2022 Year 9 English classes recently explored the literary world of picture books. The students found that the combination of vivid images and a succinctly written text was not only fun and appealing to view, but conveyed meaningful, sophisticated and moral messages and ideas. Here are some examples of students creating, compiling and publishing picture books containing compelling characters, expressive illustrations and lessons learned.

02.01.2022 On Friday 11 December, we held our annual Presentation Day. Each year group had a separate ceremony, hosted by the student leaders for that cohort. Congratulations to all students who received an award, as well as every student who achieved their goals this year, no matter how big or small that achievement may have been. Here is a selection of some of the photos from Presentation Day.

02.01.2022 THE TREE IS UP(side down)! To follow on from the wonderful success of our Upside Down Christmas Tree event last year, our new Year 12 (2021) cohort has decided to continue the tradition! Supported by the Hornsby sub-branch of the Salvation Army, the 'Upside Down Christmas Tree' provides an opportunity for parents, caregivers, students, staff and community members to donate gifts to those in our local community who may be experiencing hardship this holiday period.... Donations to the initiative may include, but are not limited to, new items such as toys, books, puzzles, clothes, sports equipment and stationery. The collection point for gifts is marked by the upside down tree in Quad A! Alternatively, for external visitors, gifts can be brought to Reception. The collection period for the 'Upside Down Christmas Tree' started yesterday (23/11) and will conclude at the end of next week (4/12). We thank you all in advance for your support of this wonderful citizenship initiative!
