25.01.2022 Dailan Pugh speaking at the 40th anniversary of the Terrania Creek forest blockade. The first forest blockade in any western country. #ourforests #tooprecioustoplunder #nefa
22.01.2022 Jo Haylen in Byron Bay talking about the need for more investment in active transport options. We need to get people out of cars!
19.01.2022 Our world is on fire. Climate change is happening now. Stay safe everyone.
18.01.2022 What stories will we be able to tell our children in the future? A story about taking the actions required to change the way we do things and do something about climate change? Or a story about how sorry we are that we failed to act?... It is time for climate action. It is an emergency.
17.01.2022 Hazard reduction burning does little to reduce the severity of intense fires. It is best used carefully to protect people and assets from smaller, less intense fires.
16.01.2022 Last years Labor National Conference declared that we are facing a Climate Emergency. Now Labor will move a motion in the Australian Parliament to make the same declaration.
14.01.2022 Our firefighters in NSW are putting their lives at risk to protect lives and property. This video just shows their professionalism and their bravery. We must be funding them properly and giving them the support they need so that they can do their jobs. And we must do everything to make sure they dont have to confront these fires in the first place. Thank you for all that you do.
13.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day Dads!
13.01.2022 It is time to support the Uluru Statement From the Heart. #voice #treaty #truth #ulurustatement
10.01.2022 I have been elected to the Labor State Policy Forum.Thank you to all the rank and file members who voted for me. Time to make sure we have a progressive platform that takes serious action on climate change to the next election.
09.01.2022 This is an outrageous position for our local MP to take. We need to close the border now. QLD is closing many of their beaches and the risk of QLDers coming down over the Easter weekend is just not worth it. If resourcing is a concern surely we can work with QLD police and do it together? Byron Bay is now an area of interest for COVID-19 spreading. We need to minimize the risk as much as possible.
09.01.2022 Ill be there tomorrow with my kids. It's their future and we need urgent action now. Are you coming?
08.01.2022 The North Coast is at the centre of the creative industries in NSW and Australia. People are feeling the pain of lost jobs and lost gigs right now. Most recently is the devestating news that Bluesfest cant go on for the first time in 30 years. This was obviously the right decision, but it doesnt mean there is not a heavy impact on many people. Support for our creative industries must be part of any stimulus package. Have you lost your gig? Report it here to help build the case for support - https://ilostmygig.net.au/
08.01.2022 NSW to close all non essential services over the next 48 hours.
08.01.2022 It has been hard over the past few months to reconcile the anger, fear and sadness that I have felt as climate change fueled fire consumed our country with the pride and thankfulness I have felt towards our communities that have come together and those who have put their lives on the line. I have been swinging between feelings of helplessness and a determination to do more to protect and save our environment. Many people have lost their homes, their livelihoods and their live...s. Many animals have lost their habitats and their lives. But I am determined to not let my children grow up in a country where summer is made up of fear and smoke masks. The rain has now come to many fire ravaged areas, bringing relief and some comfort. But we cannot let this be the new normal. We cannot skip past action to put the brakes on climate change and move straight to adaptation. I dont want to lose the Australian summer that I had growing up and I wont let it go without doing everything I can to save it. Some things do need to change to save the Australian summer. This will take a lot of difficult conversations, a lot of listening and a lot of support for communities impacted by climate change and by the actions we need to take to stop climate change. What we have been doing so far has not worked. Thank you to everyone who has been out there fighting the fires. Thank you to everyone who has been taking action on climate change. This is a nice poem. If you haven't seen it yet it is worth the watch.
07.01.2022 Today is a day for us to say sorry to our Indigenous brothers and sisters in Australia. Sorry for the past atrocities that were perpetrated against you. Sorry that we still cant bring ourselves tell the truth about this history. Sorry that we continue to marginalise and ignore your demands. Three years ago the First Nations of Australia came together and demanded makarrata - treaty and truth telling. They demanded a constitutional Indigenous voice to our parliament. It is to... our shame as a country that these demands have not been advanced. To embrace the Uluru Statement from the Heart could be a wonderful and uplifting healing process for all Australians and it would have positive tangible impacts on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal Australians. If you haven't had a chance to read the statement, please do. If you have read it, read it again today and recommit to delivering the real change that the statement calls for. https://ulurustatement.org/the-statement
02.01.2022 Seems like a good idea. Well done Dan Andrews.
02.01.2022 Congratulations to all the women that have fought for this important change for so long.
01.01.2022 It might be time for Air BnB hosts to put their homes back onto the long term rental market.
