We aim to facilitate a learning experience for both experienced and newly registered celebrants, overall, dedicated to supporting the diversity of this special role you play in the community. QualTrain is a family run business directed by Carol Astbury who was first appointed as a Celebrant in 1974; one of the first Celebrants in Australia, she worked with other pioneer celebrants to develop deeply rewarding and personally meaningful ceremonies for her clients. Carol carried her passion for celebrancy into training new celebrants and, in 2005 launched QualTrain Australia. Her son Nathanael Ditchburn, celebrant now for 10 years takes his experiences from a fruitful career in hospitality, events and training with a strong focus on customer service into the role of training management. 16.01.2022 Dear Celebrant, For the past 15 years AssentTECS has offered Ongoing Professional Development (OPD) to marriage celebrants; the last eight years, as one of the MLCS approved OPD providers. The team has strived always, to provide you with the best OPD possible. AssentTECS trainers have been carefully selected to ensure that they are both experienced and knowledgeable as well as great trainers. Weve always provided you with professionally designed and published OPD textbook...s. Books that many have stated make a great reference, and everyone completing OPD with AssentTECS has received a certificate of attendance. I know our colour certificates grace the walls of many celebrant offices. Now, after 15 years, its time to let someone else share the joy of delivering OPD. We (AssentTECS) did not apply for a contract to deliver OPD beyond this year. However, to ensure that the quality of OPD that youve grown accustomed to is still available, AssentTECS trainers including Karen Faa, Cheryl Landsberry, Melissa Halliday, Toni Richards, Susan Winters and Karen Steele will be working for QualTrain Australia Pty Ltd. Weve been working with Carol Astbury and her team at QualTrain to make sure the transition for you is as seamless as possible. Youll still be able to access your favourite trainer at your regular session.....youll just be enrolling with a different OPD provider. I strongly urge you to take up the opportunity to support Carol Astbury. It is after all, lovely to have a new provider in the marketplace. 04.01.2022 Is your OPD experience as good as this? Hi AssentTECS, I recently organised a private OPD session with your trainer Sarah Aird which took place last Thursday in Melbourne.... I just wanted to give you some feedback as I feel it is always important for these things to be passed on, good or bad. Sarah was absolutely fantastic! It was the first OPD session that I have attended in 8 years of being a Celebrant, where I felt that everyone in the room was comfortable, felt safe enough to speak their thoughts, encouraged to be honest and most importantly we all learnt a great deal. Sarahs skill and depth of knowledge on the Marriage Act and the Guidelines should be congratulated. The way in which Sarah helped to establish this positive learning environment was spot on and should be recognised. She answered everyones questions easily and concisely. It was a pleasure to have her as our trainer, Im so glad she is in this field of training as it suits her to a tee. Thank you, Julia Handford

The marrying couples have set the date, signed the NOIM and have agreed to a very special wedding ceremony prepared by AssentTECS OPD participants.
