24.01.2022 Did you know that on average as a teachers you spend 180 days with your students in one year? The extensive, and crowded curriculum is tricky to cover and assess in this time. Add to this the social, emotional and physical support our students need, it is no wonder teachers are time poor and relying on simple, summative assessment tasks to figure out if what they taught has sunk in. But is this the best way? ... Can we think differently about how we assess? Can we do it in such a way that it benefits our students, enhances our effectiveness and saves us time? Yes, I think we can. Check out our blog post for some different approaches to assessment, link below. We would also love to know what approaches you are already using to stay on top of things, let us know below? https://assessly.com.au/planning-for-effective-classroom-a/
24.01.2022 When it comes to assessment, there is the smart way and the old way. The smart way sees assessment integrated with your teaching. Assessing formatively and using regular insights to plan ahead. The old way, sees assessment as an afterthought, a compliance-oriented task with a focus on the report grade. ... The smart way is learner focused, the old way is not. Give us a if you choose the smart way.

18.01.2022 When I was teaching Year 6, I had this idea to have my students complete a passion project. The plan was to integrate Science, English and History all into one task. I told the students, they got very excited and away they went! And then, after I had let the cat out of the bag, it dawned on me... 'How was I going to assess this beast of a project? What would students hand in? How would I collect evidence of learning? (Should have thought of all that before hand... t...'was truly a great moment in my teaching career). At Assessly, we want to support you to offer a variety of learning and assessment modes to your students. So we have made it super simple to capture photo, video and audio evidence of student learning. And while you are at it, take some anecdotal notes to match the evidence and grade them directly to the curriculum. You'll be happy to know that my Year 6 passion project idea worked out (mostly). Though I did spend many late nights sorting and reviewing photos and videos. Next time I think I will use Assessly! See more

02.01.2022 Thank you for joining us on our journey, we thought we would share with you why it all started. A few years ago when I was teaching Year 1, I realised, that among all the challenges that come with teaching small people, I was struggling to find the time to consistently and effectively assess my students. I wasn’t ok with just teaching them what I thought they needed to learn. So I developed many spreadsheets and checklist to track my students learning. It did the job, it ...was not amazing but it had to do, for the time being. Fast forward a few years and the struggle is still real. And not just for me but almost every teacher. We all desire to assess smarter. We all desire for our students to succeed. So Assessly was born. If I couldn’t find something that helped me assess better, I would build it. And it would help others. And they could help their students. That’s the goal. Support teachers, improve student learning. We know Assessly will enhance your classroom assessment. We know it will give you the time and data you need to teach like a boss. Keep up the great work and give us a if this resonates with you! -Tadgh
