04.01.2022 NORTH COAST TIMES Wanneroo Business Association committee members. BUSINESS people relished the opportunity to connect face to face at Wanneroo Business Association’s AGM this month.... About 130 people attended the September 16 event at The Marina Mindarie, where outgoing president Dinesh Aggarwal said event attendance had risen drastically since COVID-19 restrictions eased, showing the need local businesses felt to connect. Mr Aggarwal celebrated his 10 years’ service to the management committee while handing over the reins to Nigel Santa Maria who was re-elected to the committee on the night. In his departing message, Mr Aggarwal said he was proud to hand over a modern and financially self-sustainable organisation to the new committee and was confident the association had a bright future ahead. He said, due to the pandemic, the annual business expo which normally took place in September was postponed to March 2021, and the business awards would return in November 2021. Mr Santa Maria presented his final financial report as treasurer before taking the president role and said it was a privilege to take the reins for the next two years. I am really excited to build on the momentum we currently have, to capitalise on the opportunities we see in front of us, he said. We are now in a good position to crack on and continue delivering against this momentum we have. He said the organisation was slightly ahead of budget thanks to a cash boost received from the COVID-19 Federal Government stimulus. Mr Santa Maria thanked departing committee members, including Chantell Rosenthal who was stepping down from vice-president to go on maternity leave. Committee members Kasia Mieczkowski from Eye for Recruitment and Mike Pilkington from Asset Financial Accounting took over as vice-president and treasurer. Newcomers to the committee include Andy Kahle from AndyK Design, Kati McKeon from Hot Lizard Design and Steven Windsor from Pascoe Partners Accountants, following a vote to fill six positions from eight nominations. General manager Lauren Bell, who was MC for the event, said the organisation had grown to 429 members. Highlighting the return of WBA’s fundraising gnomes, she said the annual fundraiser recipient would be Cahoots. WBA fundraising gnomes. WBA fundraising gnomes.
