20.01.2022 Our annual Sleepout for the Homeless was a little different this year, due to Covid-19. We did a sleep-in instead, in our own homes, in the last weekend of winter. Some students enjoyed the company of their friends, while others did it on their own. They slept on the ground, the couch or some braved through the night on the backseat of their cars! The students had a simple meal of bread and soup and instant noodles. Students also donated money for the cause and all the funds ...go to Rosies. Ms Alexandra Cashin and I would really like to thank these kind and compassionate students from Years 6-12 for their participation. You are truly awesome humans! We would also like to thank Mr Steven Chamberlain and Ms Maria McDonald for their contributions. Thank you. Mrs Sabapathy, Ms Cashin A Poem We each gathered in our own little spaces The car, the floor or even the couch became a special place With one common goal To feel what it is like to be homeless and cold Just for a day at least It was chilly and uncomfortable However, we slept on anyway Knowing that it will only last for a day We feel grateful for all that we have So, it is only human to want to share We thank all who took on the dare From the little to the big people You have each become so special.

12.01.2022 Life is SWELL for our Visual Art students. Today, the Year 11 Visual Art students embraced an immersive experience at the Swell Sculpture Festival at Currumbin to commence Unit 3: Art as Knowledge. Students engaged with artists, interacted with sculptures and observed how recycled materials can be transformed into amazing works of art. An ephemeral beach sculpture from each student concluded the day.
11.01.2022 On Friday our Year 11 students participated in their Retreat. Usually this is a three day Retreat on the Sunshine Coast but due to the current situation we had to change our plans and transformed it into a single day Retreat Twilight held in the PFC. Despite the challenges they faced the Year 11 cohort showed up, got involved and spent the day coming together as a group to get prepared to lead our Franciscan community forward into 2021.

01.01.2022 Assisi Day Liturgies With almost everyone practicing social distancing and self-quarantine or self-isolation for the foreseeable future in response to the coronavirus pandemic, we do not always have the opportunity to come together like we have in the past. This was very noticeable during our Assisi day celebrations, last Friday, which looked a lot different to previous Assisi day celebrations. Whilst coming together virtually is one way to continue to engage with our friends and family it often doesn’t feel like a true replacement of what has happened in the past. Luckily though during times of crisis, our faith can bring us together as we reach out to one another in solidarity and love even though those ways may look different to how they have in the past.
01.01.2022 During the Year 12 Exam Block the Year 12 Cert III in Tourism class held their U35 Emerging destinations Travel Expo. All of the students did a fantastic job. We hope that Mrs Callaghan and 9.1 enjoyed their visit to learn about these amazing places! Well done Year 12
01.01.2022 The Bertoldi Art Studio was abuzz with music, creativity and artistic exploration this week. The Year 10 and 11 Visual Art students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to spend the day in the art studio learning and working alongside Artist Tamara Armstrong. Students experimented with colour, shape, pattern and lots of layering techniques to create interesting backgrounds for their investigative inquiry question. All of the artwork created today are ‘works in progress’. It will be exciting to see what emerges on these canvas’ as students work towards resolving their work next term.
