21.01.2022 It makes us feel supported..and safe! In 2019 the South Australian Museum began offering Autism-friendly family mornings to allow families often restricted by accessibility boundaries the opportunity to enjoy the museum. Alongside adjusting lighting and audio-visual displays to provide a sensory friendly experience the museum offers free-to-borrow sensory friendly backpacks. As well as free downloadable pre-visit materials such as maps and info sheets for families to use ...on their visit. This was all made possible thanks to the generous support of the community, through fundraising drives and general donations. Having received incredibly positive feedback from the autism spectrum community the Museum would like to be able to offer more sessions in the future. If you are interested in supporting this inclusive initiative you can visit samuseum.sa.gov.au/support. https://fb.watch/1NE3XbjTbj/
