Caulking - the thick, flexible, adhesive material that seals around sinks, bathtubs, toilets and where wall and floor tiles meet - needs to be properly maintained and replaced at regular intervals. As a general rule, caulking should last about five years, but humidity, cleaning, pre-existing mould and how it was last applied all impact on replacement timing.
