11.01.2022 Hay fever allergies have a lot of overlapping symptoms with COVID-19, so get tested if your symptoms don’t seem right Melbourne’s hay fever season runs from October 1st to December 31st each year. For the 25.5 million people that suffer from this condition annually, the symptoms of headaches and constant tiredness can make springtime unbearable.... The good news is that during this hay fever season, we can all take precautions to significantly reduce our chances of contracting allergies! These precautions include: Try to limit going outside when the pollen count is high, it’s windy or after thunderstorms. (You can check Pollen Forecasts to guide you) Take a shower or change your clothes after going outside, to remove the pollen from your body. When outdoors, wear wrap-around sunglasses to stop pollen entering your eyes. Apply a small amount of Vaseline/ petroleum gel to the nasal opening to trap pollen grains. If symptoms get increasingly severe, please book an appointment with one of our lovely GP’s who can recommend medications that may suit you
