24.01.2022 St Augustine's School Coffs Harbour May 2009 Discovery Science and AUSTAR brought well known Astronomer, David Reneke to schools in regional New South Wales as part of the AUSTAR for schools Science Month and to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy 2009. David lectured to the kids on all aspects of the universe and taught students how to use a telescope and what to look for in the night sky. A large telescope was donated to the school PLUS a cheque for $2000.

22.01.2022 What can you say about the beautiful region of Lake Tekapo... Stunning! Clear skies, blue water, mountains and that amazing little church. Mt John observatory has to be experienced. A professional observatory with scopes, domes and plenty of staff to show you the night sky. In addition they have the privately owned EARTH and SKY Observatory there as well. They put on an amazing sky show at night, in several language groups if needed, and have a great array of telescopes to use. That show is a knock-out! The cafe is also nearby with drinks and food for the hungry observer. We go here as well on our NZ astronomy tour in June 2011. Make inquiries with me.

19.01.2022 Wellington - distinctly different than C/Church. Much more cosmopolitan and city-like, modern architecture and house built on steep slopes beside the bay. The Maori culture was explored and we headed for an amazing place called 'Zealandia'' - a wildlife sanctuary and reserve where we took a night tour set up for us by the manager, Hamish Timmins, and saw up close some of the nocturnal animals in their natural habitat. We saw te Papa Nz's amazing museum of culture and diversity. Visited Carter Observatory for the full tour by Manager Dawn Muir. Probably the best set-up complex of its type I've seen, even in the USA. We go to all these places on our 2011 NZ astronomy tour. Email me for details!
