19.01.2022 Installed a 16 inch robotic telescope at Sidings Springs Observatory in NSW last week. Whaaaat a long drive, 2250 Km's in two days and getting up each day at 5am, what the smile emoticon Coonabarabran, NSW

14.01.2022 Today marks a milestone in astronomy. Two hundred professional astronomers from the "Event Horizon Team" working globally all over the world - using the power of Ultra Long Baseline Interferometry (combining imaging from radio telescopes located all over the globe, producing an equivalent aperture of a single telescope the size of the earth) worked together to take the - FIRST - ever image of a Black Hole. Every image you have ever seen before this "actual" image has been an ..."artists impression". This image is "REAL". This is a 4.5 Billion solar masses (yes 4.5 Billion times the mass of our own sun, and the black hole is the diameter of our solar system), located in a galaxy called M87 in the constellation of Virgo 55 Million light years away. This is the largest black hole we know of, thereby it's being selected for this honour of being first. The image achieved is groundbreaking, and is evidence that Albert Einstein and his Theory of Relativity is correct ! Einstein your data and the image of an "actual" black hole are 100% consistent with each other. See more
