20.01.2022 Have you ever... Been the last one standing at the baggage carousel with no bag? Got to the airport only to find your flight has been cancelled? Missed a connec...ting flight because your previous flight was delayed? Qantas staff are amazing at finding solutions to our travel woes, but who will we turn to after the restructure?
20.01.2022 The newly elected Perth Lord Mayor, Basil Zempilas, has made transphobic and anti-homeless comments. In a show of collective support, there are already 3000 people interested or attending this event being held tomorrow. You are invited to attend to stand up for homeless and marginalised populations' rights, and join the fight against transphobic comments.
18.01.2022 ABS data released 15 December 2020, shows men aged 45-54 (the Prime Minister's age bracket) with an average super balance of $183,000 while women in that bracket average $118,556. While Morrison Government MPs are are lining their retirement nests with 15.4%, they're doing everything they can to freeze your super again to keep it in single digits.
17.01.2022 Today is Equal Pay Day, so we wanted to send a big teal congratulations to Social and Community Services workers across Australia who fought for and won Equal Pay in 2012 and successfully Saved Equal Pay this year. Check out your new rates at www.myequalpay.com
15.01.2022 Working people have sacrificed the most and have paid the highest price during COVID. Is the right way to thank them by cutting their rights at work? Too many employers are already exploiting our workplace laws and underpaying workers. Join our pledge to ensure workers' rights are protected!
12.01.2022 With the Government seeking to scrap the BOOT, here's your guide to what it is and why it's important that we keep it. Read our rundown of the attack on the BOOT test and then sign the petition to stop these attacks from happening: http://bit.ly/IR-Bill
12.01.2022 Change is inevitable. The future of energy is changing as improved renewable energy technologies are developed and become available. Having the State Government and Synergy on board with making the changes in a way that ensure there is Just Transition for the workers is of the highest importance to our Union. This is the first step for a Just Transition agreement for the whole community of Collie and its future.
07.01.2022 You'd think with borders opening and flying finally about to ramp up, Qantas would be bringing back thousands of workers who've been on little to no pay for months but stuck by Qantas. Or they'd make sure their services are fully staffed to get through what is guaranteed to be a busy holiday season. But no. Instead they're sacking hundreds of workers and axing their service and sales desks, and their airport lost baggage services. What a disgrace. Reverse the decision now, Qantas.
06.01.2022 It's NAIDOC Week and this year's theme, "Always Was, Always Will Be" recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. Always Was, Always Will Be acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. This week we want to celebrate our First Nations members and the enormous contributions they make to their workplaces, to their communities and to their union. We are honoured to be able to stand by their side.
06.01.2022 The year following the Stonewall Riots (1969), the first Pride Marches were held 50 years ago in New York, LA and San Francisco. Want to help put the protest back into Pride this Saturday? See the details on this event page.
03.01.2022 Keryn has been out on the road so has taken the opportunity to do training with some regional ASU Delegates, like Renee (pictured) from Shire of Carnarvon.
02.01.2022 Where’s the spirit of Australia in this decision? Just a few weeks before Christmas and this is how Qantas is treating its staff, who have already been through an extremely tough year. We stand in solidarity with all Qantas workers and call on Qantas to put an end to these terrible outsourcing decisions that hurt workers and harm the airline.
01.01.2022 People who have worked their guts out their entire lives will be forced to work even longer if the Morrison Government cuts the promised and legislated increase to super to 12%. Reneging on this promise will hurt the working people who have carried Australia throughout the COVID-19 crisis. Another sign that Morrison is completely out of touch.
