02.01.2022 As We Are hosted a fantastic Bird Making Workshop on Friday in the studio, facilitated by the very talented team from Co3 Australia. Everyone learnt how to make a big black bird from an old t-shirt, firstly using a stencil to cut out the shapes, then stitching and stuffing the body and wings, and lastly wiring up the bird. To coincide with the birds we also shared a story about birds, migration or our recent COVID-19 experience. We were lucky to have the very talented Paul s...inging a number of classic tunes while we created, with some of our brave participants getting up to sing a tune or two also... go Greg, Mandy, Ashley, Julianne and Janet! Togther we created a small flock of birds, all of which will be joining a bigger flock of 1,001 black birds for the backdrop of a Co3 dance performance early next year at the State Theatre. The pièce de résistance was an AC/DC inspired bird created by Greg which he said was a cross between an eagle and an emu. Thanks to all the participants who joined us, and a big shout out to the awesome Co3 team: Talitha, Paul, Hilary, Raquel and Kristie. We cannot wait to see the final installation and to meet all the dancers, especially Mandy who was super keen to be one of the dancers herself! If you would like to be involved in the project please visit https://co3.org.au/community-initi/the-bird-makers-project/ THE BIRD MAKERS COMMUNITY See more
