22.01.2022 Waterplay Week 2: Had a look at the weather forecast for this week and it’s perfect...to learn and play in the rain! We will talk about appropriate clothing for a rainy day, walk in the rain with umbrellas, collect and measure rain water, use spray bottles to create rainy day drip art and hear the story of Noah’s Ark. I have also changed up our indoor environment to support engagement and positive social play. Tuesday will be a sad day as we farewell Niesha but I’m sure a special cooking session will bring a smile back to our faces! Thank you to my umbrella model Josh

18.01.2022 Monday 19/2/18: after a weekend of illness for me our program for the week was very spontaneous as I followed the play leads of the children...

18.01.2022 Our program: Water is a consistent, loved and engaging play partner for the children here At Home. So many learning opportunities! Over the next few weeks, intentional teaching moments will be a feature of our natural gravitation to water play. To start with we will explore floating and sinking, make comparisons as we sort and classify, discuss gravity, volume and velocity on our water channels, observe scientific understandings as we work with ice and learn about watery animal habitats. Our environment will also be rich in language acquisition as the children engage in hands on activities to support their cognitive thinking.

12.01.2022 Fortnight beginning 26/2/18: I had planned to follow on from some naming of body parts that occurred at the playdough table thanks to Mr Potato Head, but....the children had other ideas! So over the fortnight we have explored how well we can use our bodies through sensory discoveries, fine motor control and large motor movement.

07.01.2022 A short week with the public holiday but we packed in a lot of play. We loved watching the Eric Carle animated story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar which prompted us to look a little more closely into where caterpillar gone?. We further researched this by watching a time lapse short film of this life cycle in action. Totally fascinating! Our art experiences were well received and we made the most of the sunny periods to access our upper garden playspace and a park excursion!
