19.01.2022 "Fashion" Red Ironbark coffee table is a complete change in direction with design and frame style. I started with a painting in the "Ralf Harris" style with broad brush strokes and minimum detail, but I still wanted it to look sophisticated and stylish. Don't ya just love it when things go right on the first attempt. I just had to tidy up the hair, level the eyes and raise the mouth, and there she was!! I faithfully followed the brush strokes with veneer so the design retained it's painted look and was very happy with the result. A modern square frame in Iron Bark completes the table.

13.01.2022 Have you got a real nice dining table but need some chairs ? Turning to the op shops provides many possibilities. These chairs are from a Salvos store for $11 each. When looking check underneath the chair. If there is webbing, that means they may have springs and require upholstery skills, but if they are ply and foam it is just a matter pulling the stapels and material and stapeling on new material if the foam is ok. Then give the chair a wriggle to see if there is any move...ment on the joins. If so, the chair will need tapping apart and re gluing. These chairs were solid with only a couple of loose legs, and because they were bolt on, it was only a matter of turning the nut to fix. These chairs are to match a Grey Box table so I have finished them with dark gray Fusion Mineral paint. Metalic gold for the under coat and then after applying the grey, sand back on edges and in random spots with a course 80g sandpaper. Then two coats of soft polishing wax to restore a nice sheen to the paint. Screw then newly coverd seats on and you have trendy new chairs to match the table. A bit of effort, very little cost, and alot of satisfaction. Give it a try. See more

12.01.2022 Ataahua Tables just completed a retro caravan cabinet fit out using 12mm marine ply and victorian ash. Harn soft close drawers, integrated vic ash end grain chopping board, pressed metal splashback. Fridge, cooker, microwave and TV recesses.

09.01.2022 A Jarrah and Blackbutt entertainment unit is the latest piece to leave the workshop, made out of recycled timber that features nail holes, sap veins, borer tracks, with soft close drawers and pulls with Paua shell inlays.

08.01.2022 Well I am finally back after being locked out of facebook when my old lap top died. Ataahua Tables recently attended the Rare Trades Exhibition at Ballarat and created a lot of interest. Cut a couple of designs over the two days and met some interesting people. It's only when you have to answer a whole stack of questions from interested people that you become aware of the knowledge you have acquired. Was a fun couple of days and good advertising.

08.01.2022 Ataahua Tables has branched out into recycled hardwood tables. Timber from barns, warehouses, bridges and piers provide tables full of feature and character. Contrasting colours are used to enhance this with weathered marks and sap veins either scooped out to create a 3D surface, or filled with clear resin for a smooth finish. No two tables are the same. 07.01.2022 Just love it when you spay the first coat and your work reveals it's true self. Bed in recycled Feathertop Ash with Burch thicket inlay design on head complete with blue bird and beatles with paua shell wings.

06.01.2022 Ataahua Tables has recently started producing side tables from recycled timber. This table is made from Jarah and Messmate (Stringy Bark). The feature top was an old pier tread that has been skim dressed to reveal the beautiful grain and color of the timber whilst still retaining the marks/pattern of the weathering process. Old nail holes filled with clear cast resin and natural borer and termite tracks all add texture and provide a table full of feature and interest.

06.01.2022 Renovated an old Romance top made at least 15 years ago, and made a new gray box and ironbark frame for a customer who loved this design. It came up much better than I expected.

05.01.2022 Ataahua Tables recently made and installed these White Ironbark waterfall kitchen bench tops in a local house renovation. White Ironbark is a beautiful local hardwood that is very dense and heavy and ideally suited to bench tops. They are spray finished with four coats of two part lacquer, 30% satin, specifically designed for this application. The finish beautifully enhances the grain feature.

02.01.2022 Ataahua Tables has developed a contemporary new design coffee table for the modern home or apartment. The table has an inner city vibe. Titled Cafe' Culture it is made from White Ironbark and features a magazine tray and cross panel frame with easy glide feet. The timbers used in the design are, Walnut Burl (hair), Burch (face), Quilted Maple +Makoe' (umbrella), Pearwood (cup), and Birdseye Maple (background).
