24.01.2022 Well here we are. The 2021 training year begins tonight. With only 129 hours of training between now and Christmas, you don’t want to miss any. We are looking forward to the start of training so see you all nice and early.

24.01.2022 So those pesky little microscopic virus cells brought Perth to a lockdown once again and have cost the red and black belt students a Saturday elite training session. Fortunately there does not appear to be any spread of the virus so we can all get back to training this week. As per the last lockdown, we will train with minimum personal contact for this week and await further feedback from the Gov't regarding training for the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed, we will be i...n full training from next week but just to make sure that we are not taking any unnecessary risks, there will be a focus on the sanitising of hands and sterilising of equipment throughout the current period of concern. Therefore, please ensure that you sanitise upon arrival as usual. If you feel you have any of the usual cold or flu symptoms or you are unwell for any reason, please consider giving training a miss this week and we will see you when you are well.. Take care. See you Thursday.

23.01.2022 Training in the elements is an important skill. Life is not always perfect, we have to adjust our skills and our actions/reactions to the surroundings and environment around us. Check out Jack performing a disarming wrist lock on Partick. Great work Jack! ... #learnselfdefence #becomefit

23.01.2022 Yay we were back training hard again last night. Good to see you got your email. But you know the drill. We still need everyone to sanitise on the way in and the way out. See you on Thursday.

23.01.2022 Belief comes with confidence; confidence is developed through patience. The unification of mind and body into a single indomitable entity is not as easily attainable as some people might expect. Knowledge and relentless training is the pathway. Having made your decision to embark on the journey toward belief in yourself, your strength and your character, we will provide you with the knowledge required and the opportunity for you to achieve your goal. You must provide the impetus. So. Let’s do it!

22.01.2022 So we are in lock-down. I hope you are making the most of your 1 hour for exercise each day. If you are struggling for ideas let me give you some. Do your highest pattern 60 times or, do your second highest pattern 60 times or, do your 2 highest patterns 30 times each. That should take the best part of the hour for you. Tune in for more ideas this week. See you after the lock-down.

21.01.2022 How great is this fake to evade to counter!

21.01.2022 Hello everyone and welcome to 2021. We trust that you have had a great Christmas and a wonderful new year here in the lucky state. It is without doubt that we have had the most normal festive season of all the states and territories in Australia. That said, the back to school sales are popping up around the shopping centres already and this is an indicator that festivities are well and truly over. It is time to think lean. Christmas cakes and hams are all finished now so al...l we have to do is resist the out of season Easter eggs and hot cross buns that are appearing on the shelves of the supermarket. Easter is still more than 12 weeks away but there are only 3 weeks before training commences for the year so it is time to think about shedding some of the goodness that has built up around our waist over the past 4 weeks. A round of pushups each day and a run through all of your patterns will surely go a long way to helping you with this task. Also be reminded that we are still amidst a pandemic, so our COVID plan will still be in place when training recommences. Stay well in the meantime and we hope to see you back training at the end of the month.

21.01.2022 Hey everyone. Here we are, only 2 weeks out so it’s time to up the anti. Over the next 2 weeks you should be doing something a little physical each day. 10min run or 10min jump rope for example. It is time to get your heart rate up if you don’t want to be caught short during the warm up. It is time to begin building your fitness. Hope to see you all on Thursday 28th bursting with energy and ready to go. Looking forward to a great year.... See you there.

20.01.2022 So we were up and running again last night. It was good to see so many of you eager to get back under way. Hopefully this time we will be in training for the rest of the year. Now for some more Christmas grading news. Lorcan was well prepared and as a result, was successful at his grading in December last year. Proof that setting a goal and persevering through to the end (in actual fact, the new beginning), is a strong characteristic that has been demonstrated to us by Lorcan.... You have worked hard for and deserve this black belt. Congratulations and wear it with pride. Hubert presented Lorcan with his black belt last night.

20.01.2022 Hi All. Lock-down is over and that is good news for us all. Unfortunately, with the compulsory wearing of masks for indoor sporting activity, we are still unable to train together. If everything goes well, we will only have to endure this for 1 week and then training will resume as normal. At least that's the plan. In the meantime, you might like to practice all of the patterns up to your rank and not just your 2 highest patterns. You might also like to keep your upper body s...trength and core strength in tact. Assuming it takes 5 seconds to do 1 push-up or 1 stomach crunch (a very leisurely pace), you could do 12 push-ups or crunches per minute, or 120 in 10 minutes.... or could you? Something to work on perhaps. For now, the plan is to be back at training on Monday 15th Feb but we will keep you informed. Stay stretched. See you soon.

19.01.2022 Hi all. With only 48 weeks left until Christmas you are probably thinking that there are only 7 sleeps till the start of training for 2021, and you would be right. Therefore there is not much time left to get rid of that Christmas cheer. Time to throw in 200 push-ups on top of the 10min run to the routine. But we'll be friendly with this one. We'll make it 200 for the week, that's less than 30 per day or 1 set of 15 both morning and night. To be clear, that's only 30 seconds work each time if you drag it out. Hope you can spare the time. Looking forward to catching up next Thursday. See you then. Cheers

16.01.2022 Black belt training session held this morning at a secret place. Here, close guidance is given to red and black belts in order for higher belts to continue their own improvement as a reward for their assistance with training at club nights. Our very own Master Hubert gives instruction to ensure consistency at club training. He is very giving of his time and we are very lucky to have him.

15.01.2022 The of of The - The Late . . We pay tribute to him and the Late . from South West Taekwondo Academy for bringing WT/Kukkiwon Style Taekwondo to Western Australia in the 70's. The legends who lived before us paved the way for us to live the lives we do today, to continue their work by making the world a better place together through Taekwondo.... The Australian Taekwondo Academy have schools across WA, down in the South (Mandurah/Bunbury, Rockingham, Cockburn, Morely, Dianella, Ocean Reef, Beldon, Hedland, Karratha and MANY more!) We and our sister schools do right by following: . . . . . Australian Taekwondo Australian Taekwondo Western Australia #Taekwondo #Chungdokwan #Kukkiwon #Taekwondoaustralia

15.01.2022 Saturday training always starts with a warm up in which we are encouraged to "find our own way" (code for "no specific path to follow") and we will always find Hubert leading by example. We just love the Saturday training session.

14.01.2022 How are your stance? Need a guide. Use this to practice at home!

14.01.2022 Hi Team Unfortunately, upon closer scrutiny of the current interim restrictions, community sport is permitted but this refers to outdoor sports such as field sport, football, soccer, hockey and the like. We unfortunately fall into the same category as gymnasiuns (indoor sport), so like the gyms we are unable to recommence this Thursday as previously advised. So until next week when the restrictions are hopefully lifted, to add some interest to you training at home, grab a blindfold, or pull you face mask up over your eyes, and practice your patterns blindfolded. See you soon.

13.01.2022 Letting our hair down post grading in Dec 2020. Thank you to everyone that helped set up for the day and to those who stayed to help clean up. Thanks also to our Uber driver who picked up the lovely lunch. It was a great final grading for 2020. We trust that the upcoming festive season will bring a lot of joy and happiness to you all... plus some unwanted kilos to work on next year (haha). Merry Christmas to the ATA Marmion Coast family and to all of your extended families. Hope you can all make it to the last training session this Thursday for our calendar photo. Cheers everyone.

09.01.2022 It is good to see so many people turning up to training in the luckiest state of the luckiest country in the world. We just want to remind you that we are still very Covid proactive and will not let our guard down until the state government advises that all restrictions are cleared. To that end, can you please ensure that you use the sanitizer upon entering and leaving the training venue. Additionally, all parents are welcome to stay during training, or if you prefer to drop the children off and come back early to pick them up, you are very welcome to do this also. There is plenty of seating at both venues but could you please sign the visitor's register that we are required to keep. Thank you. See you Thursday. Keep training hard.

08.01.2022 Black belt training yesterday was one with a difference. We focused on speed and power. Whilst it was fun, there was a lot to learn and a lot to put into practice. Apply these speed principles to all of your training and you will benefit enormously. Well done to those who attended during the miserable weather. See you all next week.

05.01.2022 Students, please note that with the response with Covid-19 guidelines, out training has been suspended until further notice as of today Monday, 23 March 2020. The management team and I will be available for consultations if you have any questions into home training. Parents, during this time please assist your children and encourage them to continue to practice and train.... Remember, "any skill can be taught or learned if given enough time and the student has enough persistence and grit". A quote from the book "Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance" by Angela Duckworth. So remember, whilst you are at home, this isn't a time to do nothing it is a time to be passionate, persistent and to have an overwhelming level of grit. So rather than playing video games instead, learn something new. You have now been GIFTED with more time, don't let this time be wasted.

05.01.2022 Who is missing Tae Kwon Do? I sure am!!! Here is something to brighten your mood

04.01.2022 Not getting your belt tying right? The correct size of belt is one whereby one end starts just above the left knee, wraps around the waist twice and the trailing end is the same length as the loose end at the left knee. To tie the knot, tuck the trailing end under both wraps to form the first part of the knot. Pull tight and adjust where necessary. Then, place the right end over the left and pull through to form the complete knot. This creates a reef knot which can be tightened as much as you like because it will not lock up so tight that it cannot be undone.

03.01.2022 Rolling through the week just waiting for the next training session! We can't wait for Thursday's session! #Taekwondo #martialarts #dojang

02.01.2022 There was a focus on "poomsae timing" today. This sequence of shots suggests that the senior belts understand the importance of timing. Apart from generating power and exhibiting unison and grace, it makes the photographers job easier - hahaha. Well done to you all. :)

01.01.2022 Hi All. Its a goer, training is back on. Good news from Premier Mark McGowan yesterday means that we can get back training. So we will be at Beldon Primary School for the first time this year on Monday at 6:30pm In the meantime, you might want to work on your shadow defense techniques and do some stretching to loosen up before Monday.... Looking forward to our second startup for 2021. Hope to see you all there. Regards Hubert/Brian/Ken

01.01.2022 You can't always rely on one sense. Train all of your senses! Matt & Ken Blowfield performing their poomsae blindfolded to teach spatial, kinaesthetic and proprioceptive awareness.

01.01.2022 2021 is now officially under way. Although the first training session was good, a few people are still on school holidays. Hope you can all get back next week. There was some good news from the Christmas grading shared with those who were at training on Thursday. Please make sure that you congratulate our 2 newest black belt students when you return. Parents: Can you please ensure that you sign our Covid Register when you come into the hall. It will be at the door along with ...the sanitizer for all to use. So it has been a good start to the year and we are looking forward to having you all back for another productive and enjoyable time. Reminder:- First grading for 2021 is only 9 weeks away.
