25.01.2022 Caught up with ATEAM TENNIS Champ 12 year old Samantha Mills, the family dog Bella and the Warwick JDS Under 17s UTR trophy today. We completed another awesome training session with her two awesome older siblings Bridey and Daniel, in preparation for more tournaments down the road - against the best girls in the state.

23.01.2022 So many outstanding tennis matches being played at the inaugural TAS UTR JDS @ USQ - that it was such a pleasure to watch. Congratulations to the tournament officials and sponsors on a tournament well done. A very special mention goes out to all our ATEAM TENNIS participants, your hard work and dedication to the sport has been not even short of outstanding - so many personal bests being achieved. Good luck in the upcoming events down in Brisbane, as news came in recently that a few of our team had been selected for the UTR FINALS - to be held at the National Tennis Centre (home of the Brisbane International and the ATP CUP). 13.01.2022 Amid the COVID-19 crisis - with 4 more new cases in Toowoomba, ATEAM TENNIS have decided to cancel their Easter Tennis Camp 2020. It was a very hard decision to make but I'm positive that everyone would be in agreement, our health and safety is more important than hitting a few tennis balls at this stage. I know that our Easter holidays are coming up and it will be difficult to keep ourselves busy (especially our kids), but I'd be more than happy to run some one-on-one lessons, small group or squad sessions, (keeping the numbers limited to 4 in a group setting) - amidst the new cases popping up in Toowoomba. Try to have a happy Easter wherever you are in the region or traveling elsewhere.

13.01.2022 ATEAM TENNIS would like to congratulate 12 year old Samantha Mills from Toowoomba, who today took out the Warwick JDS UTR event without dropping a set. The hard work is paying off. Not only did she win the event but she also won the best sportsman award for the tournament. Whats so impressive about Sam, is her strength, resilience and amazing court sense in where to play her shots at the right times. Playing in extremely windy and cold conditions over the weekend, ...she was able to navigate the ball in all parts of the court, using the wind and court position to her favour. Playing girls 2 to 3 years above her age was something else that Samantha relishes and she was really looking forward to playing her first event after COVID-19. Playing 2 siblings all the time has proven she can cope with the pace of shot and deal an incredible return of serve. Bring it on - as she says countless times to me as shes so used to the harder hitting. Congratulations Samantha, all of us in the ATEAM are so proud of you and were all looking forward to watching you play in your next event.

10.01.2022 Might have some news on the coaching side of things soon. Currently there's no openings on the venues as yet but will only consist for private lessons at this stage. Some centres around the state have started opening - providing only one-on-one lessons. These are also under strict social distancing procedures. Toowoomba courts haven't as yet opened but will be meeting soon to make some decisions. Keep an eye on your phones, emails and on Social media. Stay safe everyone.

09.01.2022 Watched this great video from Craig O'Shannessy on serve. I'd also like to point out how great these four guys continue to extent their ball placing arms (ball toss) after they've released the ball. The opposite racquet arm should continue to extent vertically so that their first target (the throw) is directed in an upwardly direct (not forward), to gain more height above the net before coming forward and following their motion naturally into the court. Well done Craig.

09.01.2022 Theres no question as a professional coach, professor of the game. That to make one of these you need one of those to create it. Tennis is definitely now an art form and has been for quite some time. The science and technology allows us to peer into the unknown and make something gorgeous. Agree or disagree? Biomechanics and understanding how the body can work to the most its utmost efficiency, the naked eye just cannot see the science behind anyones shot alone. Noth...ing beats slowing down someones swing under slow motion and looking inside ones makeup. Some of my breakthroughs in coaching has come from this beautiful process, ultimately slowing things down to speed (ramp) things up. I cant stop feeling that theres a little bit of Roger in all of us. Style, grace and effortlessly flowing. Can relaxation be the new powerhouse? Potentially not a new thing but the key is how to find it. Happy tennising!
