12.01.2022 Tourism is Australia's Lifeblood - A short 12 months ago Australia recorded a record $45bn in tourism exports and it was predicted this success would continue to grow by 5% over the coming decade. Along with employing one in every 12 Australians, tourism was a thriving, future focused industry. Today our industry has nothing to work with. No international visitors and a fragmented approach to domestic border closures which has left us dying on the vine. We need urgent change.... #saveaustraliantourism https://saveaustraliantourism.com/

02.01.2022 Not long ago, we all got together to create an ATEC/YATEC North Queensland contribution to the TEQ #Go China #Wuhan video which had been edited into two episodes of Queensland Industry Support Video. These two videos were then shared with Chinese industry via various TEQ social channels and industry connections. Those two videos were very well received by your Chinese counter partners. Today, when Chinese industry is gradually walking out of the darkness, recharging themselve...s with energy and preparing for upcoming tourism recovery, they haven’t forgotten the support you gave and want to return with their heart felt regards through a video and more. Watching this video, you will find so many familiar faces. They have shown their support with different words, but one thing in common was that: I will be the first to come see you in Queensland! I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did. https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/raBnuRE1v-G0kSqlwDY_rQ

02.01.2022 The team from CaPTA Group are doing twice-weekly livestreams from within their attractions: Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas, Rainforestation Nature Park, Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and Cairns Zoom and Wildlife Dome. Each Wednesday and Friday at 10am, families and animal lovers can meet Australian native animals such as koalas, cockatoos and crocodiles, ask questions of their keepers and see what these cute creatures get up to during the day. Follow the CaPTA Facebook page to be notified when live streaming sessions begin. Is anyone else doing things like this? If so let me know and we can share with the ATEC/YATEC community.

01.01.2022 Hello to all our wonderful ATEC/YATEC NQ Members. Some Vehicle Registration & Re-Registration information for those businesses with vehicles, I certainly hope this helps especially as we "Build, Back, Better". The Queensland Government has announced changes to vehicles registration in response to COVID-19.... Waiver of vehicle registration cancellation and re-registration requirements; Individuals and businesses are cancelling their vehicle registration due to the financial impacts of COVID-19. Registration cancellations are expected to be particularly prominent within the passenger transport, vehicle hire, and heavy vehicle sectors. It is anticipated that many of these vehicles will be re-registered following the COVID-19 period. As a result, TMR has made changes to assist individuals and businesses with this process. Specifically: The registration cancellation fee will be waived. If requested by the customer, the vehicle’s number plate will be customised for free enabling the customer to retain the plate and re-attach it to the vehicle upon re-registration. The requirement to surrender the number plate as part of the cancellation process will be waived. The new number plate fee will be waived on re-registration. The vehicle can be re-registered without a safety certificate or Certificate of Inspection (COI) if: the vehicle’s previous COI was (as at the time of re-registration) within the last 12 months, or within the last 24 months for farm vehicles; and the vehicle is being registered to the same registered operator as immediately prior to the cancellation; and the vehicle has had no change in vehicle particulars (for example, VIN, engine number, make, model, colour). These amendments will be in effect from 25 April 2020 and will be in place until six months after the COVID-19 period ends. The Queensland Government is also freezing heavy vehicle registration fees for 2020-21. See more
