03.01.2022 EXCERPT FROM PETER SHELLEY'S LETTER TO MEMBERS FROM THE ATEC WEEKLY MEMBER BULLETIN This week we saw a new round of state border control announcements with Queensland Premier, Anastasia Palascak indicating the QLD borders could be closed until Christmas, WA Premier Mark McGowan suggesting the end of the year and Tasmania, until ‘at least December’. As very clearly indicated in the 3rd Edition of the Australian Chambers Business Conditions Survey released this week, interstat...e travel restrictions are having the an enormous impact on business trading conditions, with more than one in four businesses hindered by them. ATEC’s position on border closures is clear. Businesses require certainty. And, in support of calls from the Tourism Restart Taskforce, National Cabinet must develop a new roadmap indicating when borders will be reopened, aligned with stages of health outcomes. Greater community understanding is required to restore consumer confidence, and businesses require certainty to plan ahead. This is especially important ahead of the traditionally busy Christmas and holiday season'. What do you all think? Appreciate to hear some more of the sentiment from the NSW industry. Regards Holly Vaughan NSW Branch Manager
