25.01.2022 TROPICAL CYCLONE FORECAST TRACK MAP Tropical Cyclone Imogen Issued at 7:48 am AEST Monday 4 January 2021. Refer to Tropical Cyclone Advice Number 12. Headline: Tropical cyclone Imogen is moving further inland over the eastern Gulf Country. A transition to a tropical low is expected soon, but heavy rainfall and localised damaging winds remain possible.... Areas affected: Warning zone: Inland eastern Gulf Country including Croydon. Watch zone: None. Cancelled zones: Coastal areas between Karumba and Gilbert River Mouth, and adjacent inland including Normanton. Details of Tropical Cyclone Imogen at 7:00 am AEST: Intensity: category 1, sustained winds near the centre of 65 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 95 kilometres per hour. Location: within 30 kilometres of 17.7 degrees South, 142.3 degrees East , 55 kilometres north of Croydon and 130 kilometres east of Normanton . Movement: east southeast at 19 kilometres per hour . Tropical cyclone Imogen crossed the Gulf of Carpentaria coast just to the north of Karumba at about 9pm last evening. Imogen is expected to continue moving east-southeastwards in the short term, taking it further inland today. The system has recently maintained its strength over land, but later this morning is expected to gradually transition to a tropical low. Longer term, the system is expected to track more slowly to the southeast towards the North Tropical and Herbert-Lower Burdekin coasts as a deep tropical low. Hazards: GALES with wind gusts to 90 km/h are likely to continue to extend out to about 80 kilometres from the centre of the cyclone for the next hour or two. Winds should generally ease below gale force during Monday morning as Imogen transitions to a tropical low, but squally thunderstorms with more isolated damaging wind gusts remain possible for the remainder of Monday. HEAVY RAINFALL that is likely to lead to flash flooding, flooding of low lying areas and riverine flooding is being observed about the southeast Gulf of Carpentaria coast and adjacent inland, and is likely to continue near the cyclone through Monday. Heavy rainfall will spread to inland areas of southern Cape York Peninsula on Monday as the cyclone moves further inland. A separate severe weather warning is current for damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall further east across the southern Peninsula and North Tropical Coast. Recommended Action: People in inland areas of the eastern Gulf Country including Croydon should remain indoors until the cyclone has passed and listen to the next advice at 11am.

22.01.2022 Afternoon all. A windy but fine ride in the Atherton mountains. Showers are likely to return for the next several days particularly along the coast and adjacent inland Ingham north. Heaviest falls are expected along the Cassowary Coast.

Areas Affected: Warning Zone Mornington Island to Kowanyama, including Burketown and inland areas to Croydon. Watch Zone None. Cancelled Zone Kowanyama to Pormpuraaw. Details of Tropical Cyclone Imogen at 4:00 pm AEST: Intensity: Category 1, sustained winds near the centre of 65 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 100 kilometres per hour. Location: within 20 kilometres of 16.6 degrees South 139.6 degrees East, estimated to be 130 kilometres north of Burketown and 165 kilometres northwest of Karumba. Movement: southeast at 12 kilometres per hour. Tropical Cyclone Imogen is expected to move towards the east southeast and cross the southeast Gulf coast near Karumba tonight, or early Monday morning. Once Imogen makes landfall, it will become slow-moving over the southern Cape York Peninsula as a tropical low. Hazards: GALES with wind gusts to 110 km/h extend out to about 100 kilometres from the centre of the cyclone. These winds are already occurring on Mornington Island and are likely to develop about the coastal and island communities between Mornington Island and Kowanyama, including Burketown, from this evening and overnight until the cyclone makes landfall. 14.01.2022 Good morning everyone. The current weather chart has a high near New Zealand extending a weakening ridge over eastern Queensland. An inland trough will move across southeastern districts on Tuesday, before stalling about the central inland on Wednesday. A southeasterly wind change is expected to move across southeast and central districts during Tuesday and Wednesday, with cooler conditions in its wake. The inland trough is expected to contract westwards later in the week as ...a ridge of high pressure builds along the east coast. North Tropical Coast and Tablelands - Forecast for the rest of Tuesday: Hot. Mostly sunny morning. The chance of a thunderstorm in the north this afternoon. Light winds becoming easterly 15 to 20 km/h in the late afternoon then becoming light in the evening. Daytime maximum temperatures 31 to 37. Elsewhere it will be mainly fine and hot with the exception around the west GOC and far northern parts of the Peninsula, where isolated thunderstorms are possible. The current weather chart has a high near New Zealand maintaining a weak ridge along the tropical east coast, all while merging with a high west of Tasmania which extends a ridge over southwest Queensland. Between each ridge is a slow moving trough extending from the Gulf Country southward through the eastern inland to a low in the Tasman Sea. A series of upper level troughs will move across central and southern parts of the state, enhancing the instability... and supporting severe thunderstorms over moist eastern parts of the state today. Conditions will stabilise across North & Far North Qld from early on Thursday as the trough pushes offshore, with fine, warm to hot conditions to prevail well into next week. 06.01.2022 Mareeba: Firefighters are urging residents in Rise Country and Emerald Falls Estates to prepare to leave their homes as a large bushfire burns between Godfrey a...nd Hastie Roads. Firefighters and waterbombing aircrafts are working to contain the blaze, but warn the blaze could get worse. QFES: Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises there is a bushfire in Mareeba and surrounding areas and conditions could get worse. You need to be ready to follow your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly. Currently as at 12.45pm Thursday 5 November a large bushfire is burning between Godfrey Road and Hastie Road, Mareeba. Residents in Rise Country Estate and Emerald Falls Estate need to prepare to leave. Fire crews are working to contain the fire, with aerial support but firefighters may not be able to protect every property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door. People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.
