25.01.2022 The FNQ Swimming Calendar has now been published for the 2020/21 season. We ask that all clubs please submit their flyers to FNQ Swimming no later than AUGU...ST 25, 2020. This will give families enough time to plan their swimming calendar, and the committee the opportunity to upload these to the FNQ Swimming website in good time. FNQ Swimming understands that meets are subject to change due to the uncertainty around COVID-19. 23.01.2022 Hi All, Over the coming weeks we will be finalising our transitioning into a new method of communication with the whole club called TeamApp. TeamApp is designed to provide clubs and sporting groups with a simple and effective way of communicating and includes a calendar, gallery, and document hub features. This means that all information you need will be available in one place. It will also ensure that you only receive information important to your child's squad. ... As this is purely a team communication app your child can also join TeamApp if you wish, this then shares the responsibility of passing on and remembering information that directly affects their swimming. TeamApp is available to download free from the App Store onto your phone or tablet. I have also attached a step by step guide on how to join to make this transition smooth. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions ([email protected]) Thanks, -- Jordan

17.01.2022 Entries are now open via Swim Central to the FNQ Swimming Short Course Championships. Helping to support local families, FNQ Swimming has reduced the entry... fee per event to $2. We hope this will encourage greater participation throughout the weekend with swimmers taking on the challenge of multiple events over the three days. The event will be held from September 11th 13th. Friday All Junior (10&U) Age Champion, Relay & 1500 Freestyle and 400IM distance events. Saturday & Sunday All 11&O Age Champion, Relay and remaining Form Stroke and Freestyle Champion events. This will be spectator free, and will run similarly to the recent carnivals hosted by TAS Swimming. 14.01.2022 Hi Team, I hope you are all doing well and staying safe! Earlier in the week the government announced that aquatic facilities will reopen this Monday (18th). How exciting!! Unfortunately the pool is currently undergoing some maintenance works and may not be available till a later date. Fingers crossed these works should only delay the opening by a matter of weeks. ... Once we are able to reopen there will need to be some changes to our policies and procedures as only 10 people are able to access the pool at any time. Penny has been doing an amazing job trying to facilitate all our current members and once more information is available we will let you know. Thanks for your patience during this difficult time. I miss the whole team and look forward to seeing you all at the pool very soon. Regards, Jordan Mato

12.01.2022 Hi Team, We're back! As most of you may have seen the pool will be reopening Monday 25th however, it will only be open 3 days a week at this stage (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday) The swimming club will have access from 3pm - 6.15pm on these days for booked lane space and will be training under the supervision of 1 supervising staff member only and the facility will not be open during this time as we are limitied to 1 person per lane and only 9 people at one time. This will be book...ed and it will be run under a drop off at the front door at the given start time, kids will 'get in, swim and get out' and the parents will pick them up at the front door at the given finish time. There will be another email shortly to outline further details but at this stage what I am needing from everyone is an expression of interest of who would like to use this opportunity to get back in the pool so I can organise a timetable based on the interest. All expressions of interest must be emailed to [email protected] no later than Friday 22nd May @ 5pm Regards, Jordan

11.01.2022 Hi Team, It is with great sadness that I must advise you the pool will be closed as of Thursday 26th March. What does this mean for our swimmers?... Obviously with community pools being closed swimming training won't be an option, however I am happy to prescribe dryland workouts that swimmers can do from home to keep them active and moving. Please email me if you would like something for your child. Tomorrow night (Wednesday) will be our final session so please come down, it will be plenty of fun!! Please stay safe in these difficult times. We belong to an amazing community that will no doubt bounce back stronger and better than ever. Take care Regards, Jordan

01.01.2022 FNQ LC Champs 14-15 March 2020 - COVID-19 Update FNQ Swimming wishes to confirm that our championships this weekend will be proceeding as per the programme. The... current advice for Australia is that by Monday 16 March 2020 there should be no non-essential mass gatherings of more than 500 people. The FNQ Champs has 234 swimmers and we budget for approximately 190 spectators and officials making our gathering just over 420 people. We request that any non-essential spectators do not attend and of course if anyone has symptoms of illness common with those outlined in the COVID-19 public health advice please do not come to the Champs. Further we have been formally advised by Swimming Australia that the Australian Age and Open Championships in Perth in April 2020 have been cancelled. We have already commenced working together in the FNQ and Qld Swimming community to bring together some exciting and radical ideas that will offer our swimmers some high level competition in a highly incentivised format. We continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and should anything change we will advise everyone accordingly. Regards, Jim Greatorex FNQ Swimming - President
