24.01.2022 The Pub to Pub is this Sunday, I have it on good authority that the water temperature is delicious and I have been swimming there several times in the last couple of weeks, I know, I can still swim! It's going to be a great day, always lots of fun as anyone can win! I look forward to seeing you all there :)

24.01.2022 EXTRA SPECIAL MESSAGE REGARDING CORONA VIRUS. WHAT IS HAPPENING REGARDING SWIMMING? Well it had to come, we have just received notice that the UNLEY SWIMMING POOL will be closing as of 8pm tonight. Following direction from the City of Unley. At this stage we do not have full details as to the expected duration of the closure. We will keep members posted as and when more information becomes available.... This follows the announcement yesterday, that the Adelaide Swimming Centre (North Adelaide) will be closing. At this time the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre is still open, but as you can appreciate this could change at any time. See more

19.01.2022 Dear masters swimming community, It is with regret that the Masters Swimming Australia National Board of Management, in consultation with the Masters Swimming ...NSW 2020 National Championships organising committee, advise that the 2020 National Championships scheduled to take place in Sydney in September now been cancelled. With the slow re-opening of pools across much of the country, and the return to squad swimming by some clubs, many members had their eyes firmly on a return to normal, including competition events such as the Nationals. However, with travel still heavily restricted and uncertainty about where the next outbreak of COVID-19 may occur, it was considered necessary to cancel this years event. A full refund will be made to those who have already registered; we will work with our external service provider to process these refunds as quickly as possible. We would like to thank all of those members from across Australia, and the world, who had registered to participate in the 2020 National Championships. We would also like to acknowledge the support of our event sponsors and partners. Finally, the National Board of Management extends its thankyou to the organising committee, particularly the Convenor, Jane Noake, for their forbearance; the 2020 Nationals were originally scheduled for April, postponed until September and now, reluctantly, must be cancelled. While the Nationals for 2020 are sadly not to be, the 2021 Nationals arent that far away! Hopefully, come April 2021, our borders will have reopened and travel will be possible for all members. Please mark April 30 to May 3 in your diaries for the 2021 National Championships which are to be held in Darwin. If youre back in the water, enjoy your swimming, and for those in Victoria, keep strong and connected. To all of our members, stay safe, maintain your social distance and remember that were all in this together. Unfortunately the weather conditions are predicted to be not favourable so in the morning after considering all the elements and the safety of our swimmers, we will make a decision and post on here by 8.30am as to whether we will have to cancel the swim or not.

It would seem that the swimming gods are not on our side this year......the conditions for Port Elliot tomorrow are not looking great.....high winds.....we are meeting with the club captain from the surf club tomorrow morning to assess it all and see what we can do.....so keep your fingers crossed! We will let you know on here as soon as we know.......and we are entertaining the idea of Sunday morning if we have to cancel it tomorrow afternoon but that will also depend on if we can get the water cover we need.....WATCH THIS SPACE

06.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Masters Swimming legend, George Corones. He left us on Sunday, sound of mind and peaceful. He was only ...a few weeks short of his 102nd birthday. Vale, George, you were an inspiration to us all. Your stories of life and your passion for our community will always be remembered. George, you inspired people of all ages and your zest for life is one that we all wish to achieve. For now, George's family asks that you give them privacy. MSQ will work toward a celebration of Georges life for all our community in future. This is a particularly tough time in our community. Please reach out to each other, love each other, and lets help each other get through these times. More will follow, but until then, MSQ offers heartfelt condolences to Georges family and friends as they say goodbye to a character of man that is special and meaningful to so many people. Vale George, until we meet again.

02.01.2022 Dear Friends, after consulting with the experts from the Surf club and our Safety Officer, it is with great sadness and much regret that due to the high winds and water conditions we have to cancel the Port Elliot swim for the safety of all of our swimmers. We will be at Horseshoe Bay from 2.30pm if anyone wants to come and say hello and when the club opens we will go up for a drink.
