22.01.2022 This week our Kindy children have been busy learning about, and acknowledging NAIDOC week. We joined a group from Atlantis Preschool Yanchep for a visit t...o Yanchep National Park for a special guided tour with an Aboriginal Elder who shared his extensive knowledge of the land and the traditions of the Whadjuk people. We discussed the significance of native plants and animals living in the area and also listened to a Dreamtime story. We learned and discovered the meanings of symbols used in traditional paintings and were taught some Noongar words and their English language translations. The children especially enjoyed the listening to the didgeridoo and moving and dancing along to the music. Back at the Centre we explored the six aboriginal seasons and used natural materials today to create representations of the six Noongar seasons; Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djiliba and Kambarang. The children have really enjoyed getting creative while increasing their understanding of the world in which they live, and cultivating respect for diverse perspectives. #alwayswasalwayswillbe

19.01.2022 Happy national Grandparents day for all of our wonderful Preschool families. As a small token of appreciation Preschool held an afternoon tea today, dedicated to their Nannys and Pops. Preschoolers shared some yummy homemade scones and jam, and then went on to show off their Preschool environment to their grandparents. What a lovely turn out and Thank you for being a part of it

16.01.2022 on behalf of myself and all of our educators, we would like to thank all of our amazing preschool families for supporting us and making our Christmas Concert perfect. The children were fantastic and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts. They have achieved so much in 2020 and it was great for them to demonstrate these achievements to you all. It was such an incredible event, so much so that Santa heard it was the place to be Thank you all for coming (we will upload some photos soon).

15.01.2022 Christmas... such a magical time of year. As part of our acts of Kindness month, some of our caring Preschoolers were selected to go and post letters to Santa that they had written and then buy some Christmas decorations from the local shops. It was an important part of learning for the children to respect their environment, show care and empathy for their friends and some basic road safety as we had to cross the road and look for traffic as we walked to the shops

13.01.2022 Boys day..... Today a small group of Preschool (friends) boys ventured over to our local park where they enjoyed a game of Cricket. Research shows that establishing friendships is an important developmental goal for children under the age of seven. Friendships developed during their preschool and early school years give children valuable contexts in which to learn and practice skills related to social, cognitive, communicative, and emotional development. Friendships benefit children by creating a sense of belonging and security, reducing stress and the ability to adjust to changes within their environments.

13.01.2022 The children loved exploring the National park today. They discovered a variety of wildlife which included the Koalas, Kangaroos, a pelican, baby ducklings and their parents and also a tiger snake swimming in the lake. We talked a lot about the safety aspects of seeing the wildlife and why we have to keep both ourselves and the animals safe. What a caring group of Preschoolers we have

12.01.2022 Sports carnival day what a fun and exciting morning we have had at preschool. Encouraging gross motor development and physical well-being the children took part in team and individual events. The compassion and support our preschoolers gave their fellow team members was an achievement in itself. All our coloured teams did so well and we’re very proud of all of their efforts. Thank you so much to the amazing support from our wonderful families

09.01.2022 Water fun day Water is an important, natural material that provides hours of fun for our water bears at Preschool. It helps to develop both gross and fine motor skills, develops crucial social skills and helps to create water safety awareness. Our preschoolers developed confidence during the climb to the top and built friendships and they splashed each other and laughed with one another as they enjoyed themselves on our water slide and pool.
