25.01.2022 TMJ: it’s just a little problem isn’t it? Little problems grow up into BIG problems. The problem is that so many people ignore the little signs or symptoms when it would be much easier to treat the little problem before it becomes a big problem.... A problem with the TMJ (temporomandibular joint, or jaw) is no exception to this rule. Minor annoyances such as clicking, difficulty chewing, pain or discomfort opening the jaw, a blocked feeling in your ear, tinnitus or ringing in your ears, and grinding your teeth (brutism) may all be signs of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) that can start small but can grow much worse. Headaches on the side of your head Migraines Trigeminal Neuralgia Suboccipital Neuralgia Fibromyalgia These types of conditions often involve dysfunction of the TMJ. The difference is that these types of BIG problems are the ones that little TMJ grow into! https://atlashealth.com.au//are-you-experiencing-difficult #atlashealthaustralia #blairuc #gentle #takingcareofyourneck #TMJ #northlakes #qld #brisbane #headache #migraine #trigeminalneuralgia #suboccipitalneuralgia #fibromyalgia #tinnitus #TMD

24.01.2022 Is it just stress? Or is it a TMJ problem? Stress could be the #1 reason why many people don’t get early treatment for more serious underlying conditions including TMJ or nerve pain. First, they believe that their symptoms - headaches, neck pain, jaw clenching, tight shoulders, TMJ pain, or a toothache - are simply due to stress.... Second, they think that the pain and the problems will go away when the stress does. Third, they base their beliefs on previous experiences of pain and problems that do go away when the stress does. But what if, this time, they don’t? Stress is one of the most common reasons that people think that they experience TMJ pain or other problems including headaches, neck pain, jaw clenching, tight shoulders, or even a toothache. One of the other most common things that people say is, I thought it would go away. The problem is that when it comes to TMJ problems, many people have been putting up with the pain or problems for months or even years (!) before they do something about it. Usually, they visit their GP or maybe a physiotherapist who diagnoses the TMJ problem as tight muscles. Especially if you also have a toothache, you may also think to see a dentist, who may take an x-ray, which shows that your teeth are just fine. And the problem may simply be attributed to stress. But what if there is something more serious going on? https://atlashealth.com.au//simple-toothache-or-jawbone-pa #atlashealthaustralia #blairuc #gentle #takingcareofyourneck #northlakes #qld #brisbane #TMJ

23.01.2022 How can a sleeping position cause TMJ problems? One of the most common things people who experience TMJ problems say is, I didn’t do anything to cause it. Well, sleeping posture may be one of the most common ways of aggravating your TMJ.... One of the laws of physics is that For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. What this means is that any amount of force or pressure that goes one way goes the exact opposite way at the same time. When you sleep, the #1 force that your body is subjected to is the force of gravity. Let’s say for a moment that you are a side-sleeper and that the right side of your face (and jaw) are pressing into the pillow. So what it means is that the amount of force caused by the weight of your head that pushes down into your pillow is ALSO pushing back up into your head and if your point of contact if your jaw, BINGO! you can see how the simple weight of your head can create pressure that causes a TMJ problem. https://atlashealth.com.au//simple-neck-pain-caused-awkwar #atlashealthaustralia #blairuc #gentle #TMJ #sleeping

05.01.2022 Why hasn’t anyone told me my TMJ problems could be coming from my neck? For over 30 years, researchers have described a strong link between TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders and physical injuries in the neck. Unfortunately, the link between the neck and the TMJ is still widely unknown in Australia.... As a result, many people who experience chronic TMJ or neck problems never realise that there is a link between the two And worse they may not end up receiving the care that they need and continue to suffer needlessly. https://atlashealth.com.au//simple-fender-bender-can-creat #atlashealthaustralia #blairuc #gentle #takingcareofyourneck #tmj
