16.01.2022 Yin yoga can be one of the best practices for your busiest times. The longer holds practiced in yin offer you a chance to sit in stillness. Giving yourself the gift of time means that deadlines, commitments, pressing matters, and to-do lists can fade into the background, leaving space for rest and renewal. Join us on Fridays to experience this for yourself.

15.01.2022 Dive into a state of complete relaxation with Yoga Nidra in our RESTORATIVE YOGA class this Wednesday! Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) increases your inner awareness and allows your body relax completely by following a set of verbal instructions. Though this process reminds guided meditation, the state of consciousness is different because it requires a single focus concentration. There is evidence that Yoga Nidra helps relieve stress, anxiety and fatigue. *Warmer clothes is recom...mended for this class. RESTORATIVE YOGA at Knead every Wednesday 5:30 pm

14.01.2022 Lets do this together!!! There has never been a better time to prioritise our health. And with a lot of yoga studios being closed at the moment its a great opportunity to establish a yoga self-practice at home. Lets use the power of community and share our individual efforts to uplift and inspire each other. Every day for the next 30 days Ash Hope will be sharing a photo of her own practice with you. And we invite you to do the same, whether you practice an online yoga class or have your own practice, the type of yoga does not really matter - just turn up and let us know you did. We are excited to share the next 30 days with you and hope you jump onboard and practice with us!!! Please tag us in your photos so we wont miss them. IG: ashhope.yoga

13.01.2022 Keeping with the theme of feet... A yoga toe squat is great for opening your toes, feet, and strengthening your ankles. This helps to create a stable base and alignment for standing. ... Join us for yin restorative on Fridays at 5:15 pm.

13.01.2022 Join us for Yin-Restorative 5:15 pm on Friday. In this practice, we drop the expectation of what a pose should look like, there is no model shape that you need to conform too. A quote from the reputable yin teacher Bernie Clark "If you are feeling the pose you are doing to pose". You are in complete control to adjust your body position based on how it feels, there is no expectation for you to go further. ... This leads to a deeper body connection based on present moment sensation not on expectation. Your teacher: Kathie has over 11 years of yoga experience and is interested in how the mind-body connection is modified by life events and yoga practices. She works therapeutically with people who have experienced emotional trauma, anxiety, stress, and individuals that want to increase general feelings of well-being.

12.01.2022 Sun Salutation is one of the most well-known yoga sequences, the first record of which goes back to the early 20th century. Linking asanas into a well-designed sequence, where postures complement and compensate each other, provides the best mobility exercise for spine, and good warm-up for muscles and joints. Start your day with 7 am SUNRISE FLOW every Monday at Knead Yoga #sunsalutation #morningyoga #vinyasaflow

11.01.2022 If you are sedentary most of the day, yoga will counteract the effects of sitting and standing. This week Param will look at lower back mobility, bringing freedom and movement throughout the rest of the body.

11.01.2022 We say it in every yoga class but do you know what the word NAMASTE means? Namaste represents the belief that there is a divine spark within each of us. The gesture is an acknowledgement of the soul in one by the soul in another. Namah, means I, and Te means you as the divine soul within. Therefore, Namaste literally means I bow to the divine soul in you. Namaste to you!

09.01.2022 Temporary studio closure update As many of our students are working from home and therefore unable to attend classes, and in an effort to prevent the spread of viruses we have decided to close the yoga studio for two weeks. This will be effective from Monday March 23rd and reopening Monday April 6th. We will continue to provide online content and recommended poses and sequences that everyone can do from home. Reception will also be contacting current students regarding membe...rships and class passes shortly. We hope everyone stays safe and well and look forward to reopening soon!

09.01.2022 Back bends benefit physical and mental health. Keeping the spine supple, flexible and strong will assist in all of our daily activities; from working at a computer, standing at a construction site or carrying shopping to the car. Join us this week for a few sessions of Back to Basics.

08.01.2022 Yin restorative is one of the best practices for increase range of motion, counteracting time you spend sitting at your desk. What makes yin especially great is that it not only lengthens your muscle tissue but it also works on connective tissue. Connective tissue helps muscles slide over each other. Time spent still, aging, bad posture can create adhesions in connective tissue, restricting range of motion.

06.01.2022 Did you know that in yin yoga we use different names for yoga poses? This is deliberate and emphasises the difference between yin and other styles of yoga. For example, we dont hold ourselves using muscular engagement / tension. Instead, we let gravity take hold and soften into the pose. This not only means a deeper stretch but also allows us to access areas of your body that are normally hidden by muscular tension. ... Join us for Yin Restorative Friday 5:15 pm.

06.01.2022 Its common knowledge that yoga improves flexibility but did you know that you can increase your joint mobility by walking barefoot? Marion McCrae from WA is expert in the field of body movement and explains why it is so beneficial to get out of our shoes. Watch her interview with Today Tonight Yoga is always practiced barefoot to stimulate the sensory connection to your joints and all other parts of your body. And effects can be felt after only 6 weeks of barefoot movement. Next time you are on the beach or park, take your shoes off and let your feet and toes be free. 05.01.2022 How do you know when your posture is correct? Pattabhis Jois response to this question was: , . If there is too much attention paid to the posture, the quality of the breathing will be lost, and if there is too much attention paid to the breathing, the quality of the posture will be lost; therefore, we should pay an equal amount of attention to both posture and breathing. Not all yoga postures will be comfortable the first few tim...es (or months, or years) that we do them. But over time, our body and mind will adjust to them, and that which was difficult will become second nature. This comes from practice. The ability to stick with something that is difficult, and to do it with a calm mind, is one of the primary principles of yoga practice. Through gradual mastery we develop an ease of effort, and by keeping the mind focused in a relaxed way on the breath in difficult postures, we learn to bear difficulty. ~ ~ Ash Hope at Ashtanga Yoga Centre
