17.01.2022 Keeping myself busy with client E-Design projects on day 1 of Melbourne’s Lockdown 3.0 How quickly we get back into lockdown mode... active wear on, kids filling the house with craft projects and cubby houses and me escaping into the design studio for some piece and quiet I recently went on the hunt for Terrazzo look wallpaper for a bedroom makeover for a very lucky little girl in Sydney and came across this gorgeous one from @pickawall ... I’m so impressed by the quality of the paper and the print will definitely be specifying this one for a future project! Often clients will come to me with a vision for their homes, something they’ve seen on Insta or Pinterest, but no idea on how to source or specify something that will suite their budget or application... It’s my job to do the hunting you just sit back and relax If you’ve got an idea in your mind for something unusual, and don’t know where to even start looking, get in touch! I’d love to help xx

12.01.2022 I absolutely love it when I come across a product designed and made right here in Melbourne If you’re after a beautifully designed, thoughtfully crafted piece of furniture for your home you can’t go past @beeline_design I’m totally in love with their gorgeous side tables and the Ridge Buffet

12.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what’s it’s like to work with an Interior Designer? I know for many it can be a daunting thought & sometimes intimidating... At Atmosphere Designs our process is simple & straight forward, allowing our clients to guide us with initial concepts then sit back & relax whilst we put together beautiful schemes for their homes ... Step one is an Initial Design Consultation. It’s a chance to meet & show me through your home or share with me your plans for a new build. We will discuss your hopes & dreams for your space and begin to refine your ideas & define your style. I will then prepare for you an initial concept board which will give you a glimpse into the finished designs & the atmosphere that will be created in each space. I will also prepare a custom Design Proposal to suit your project needs, outlining design packages, pricing & time frames. Step Two is to begin refining the initial concepts & mapping out the floor plan layouts. We’ll meet again to present initial concepts for your fittings & finishes and you’ll have a chance to touch & feel all the beautiful finishes that will make your home. Step Three is where I will develop detailed documentation for your project including fitting & finishes schedules, detailed drawings which include joinery designs, lighting layouts & Kitchen/Bathroom designs. These documents will be used by your builder, trades & suppliers to quote & fabricate from. They are all you’ll need to convey your designs & ensure your vision becomes a reality. Step Four is the construction phase, with regular site visits, I’ll be on hand to help with any last minute decisions such as lighting placements. Step Five is the final piece of the puzzle, styling & installation of furniture, decor, art & window furnishings. It’s when your house becomes a home & your personality shines through. The rooms come together beautifully & it’s here that clients can see their initial concept board come to life right in front of their eyes! I hope this breakdown has given you an insight into what it is like to work with myself & Atmosphere Designs. With only a few spots free for 2021 get in contact now.

10.01.2022 Why I do what I do! Over the past 19 years I’ve had many roles in the design industry... from working on large scale commercial buildings to designing and styling display homes for one of Melbournes best builders. But by far my most enjoyable and fulfilling role is working directly with my clients to help them design a home they love! ... I honestly love nothing more than seeing my clients visions and dreams come to life and hearing how much they enjoy their new home makes me so happy! Working side by side to develop their designs and take the stress away from their renovation or new build is at the core of what I do. If you’ve got a project coming up I’d love to hear about it and see if I can help in any way, Jessica

09.01.2022 Design Tip Tuesday Today I wanted to share my top tips for choosing the perfect bedside table. With more than 19 years experience designing & styling homes, I’ve tried to add up just how many bedrooms I’ve designed and bedsides I’ve selected its got to be getting close to 600 rooms now! The first thing to consider is your proportions A general rule I try to stick to when selecting a bedside is to make sure the top of the bedside is level or no more than 5cms highe...r than the top of the matress. Having bedsides that are too low means they become insugnificant in a room & the bed will look too big for your space. Having them sit level or slightly higher will frame your bed as well as being so much more practical to use when your relaxing in bed. If you’ve got an exceptionaly high bed, one of those gorgeouse ones with the pillow top, I recommend using a chest of drawers as a bedside table. Normally around 78cm high they will give you the perfect proportions in your bedroom with the added bonus of plenty of storage! Storage, storage, storage Consider the use of the room, if your styling your own master suite storage is key. A place to tuck away all of your books, tv remotes, handcreams etc. is so valuable. Having all of these things tucked away will allow you to style your bedsides with beautiful accessories & gorgeous lamps. If your styling a guest bedroom I quite often opt for a side table rather than a full bedside table. They are much more affordable & the options are endless. If you do decide to go for a side table make sure you take note of any power point locations behind as you don’t want the cords visible under the table. Whats your style?... If you’re looking for a contemporary style think white, black, metal handles. If its coastal your after, white washed timbers, rattan & pearl inlay will work perfectly. Personally I can’t go past a solid timber bedside table, using a feature australian hardwood. The timber adds so much warmth into the bedroom and the styling possibilities are endless. I hope these tips have given you a head start on finding YOUR perfect bedsides! Tag a friend below if these tips would help

09.01.2022 So in love with the stunning Code pendant by @nightworksstudio I’ve been looking for the perfect pendant for an upcoming master suite project and this is ticking ALL of the boxes It’s elegant, classic and timeless and the fact that the globes are beautifully concealed within the frosted glass spheres means I can specify the perfect height to suit my clients bedhead and side tables rather than having to comply with the general rule of 1800mm above the floor level ... much too high for a bedside pendant. Tag someone who needs these beauty’s in their life!!

04.01.2022 Bathrooms don’t have to break the bank Here’s a few helpful tips to stretch your budget further and save your cash Forgo the stone and opt for a laminate benchtop. With so many beautiful new colours and finishes out there you’re sure to find a laminate that will suit your scheme at a 1/4 of the cost of stone.... Use an affordable tile, laid in an interesting pattern. Think vertical and stacked, herringbone or brickbond. By keeping your tile supply costs low you will have room in the budget to make a statement with pattern. Ditch the full height tiling and instead opt for a beautiful tile to your shower recess, bath splashback and vanity splashback only. Tiling costs can blow out easily when you decide to tile from floor to ceiling and its often not necessary for a secondary bathroom. Use subtle tile trims to areas like your bath hob and niche in lieu of mitred tile edges. By carefully selecting a trim colour to match in with your tiles you’ll hardly notice it in the finished bathroom. Mitring tiles is costly and requires a more premium tile to get a sharp finish and this is an expense you can do without. My last tip is to install a polished edge mirror, like we have done in this bathroom, in lieu of a shaving cabinet or feature framed mirror. These mirrors are very affordable and will allow you to go larger for the same cost, bouncing light around the room and creating a sense of space. I hope these tips help you rein in your bathroom reno budget and if you’ve found them useful don’t forget to follow @atmosphere_designs for more tips and design inspiration for your home. See more
