The Field of Light: Avenue of Honour is an immersive art installation by Bruce Munro i...lluminating the Avenue of Honour at Mt Clarence in homage to the ANZACs who departed Albany for WWI. The 16,000 bulbs symbolise wild beauty, sacrifice, courage and honour and reflect the regions biodiversity in the mirroring of the bulb colours to that of the local native flora. http://bit.ly/2FzC3M2 : @markpickthall (on IG)

16.01.2022 ....thinking of #soil organic matter as having two major components. The first is called "particulate organic matter," made up of lightweight, partly decomposed plants and fungi residues that are short-lived and not well protected. The second is "mineral-associated organic matter," largely made of byproducts of the decomposition of microbes that chemically bind to minerals in the soil. This type of matter is more resilient and able to persist in the ground for centuries.

05.01.2022 According to these blokes in the 1960s, the best way to start a fight was just turn a bloody glass up, fella! Does a glass upside-down mean the same thing at your local pub? #RetroFocus

05.01.2022 To feed the growing population by 2050 we are going to have to produce as much food as we have in the last 500 years. Yet we are facing some real challenges suc...h as limited space/land to grow on, degraded soil, depletion of nutrients, climate change, centralized control of food chain by multinational industrial corporations, and finally, a generation unprepared to grow food as the average age of todays farmer is 55. What we need is an agricultural renaissance. And we join with many other initiatives like Soil Health Institute to ensure our future is filled with food that nourishes us, strengthens our communities and increases our sustainable capital for our posterity. The first two agricultural ages brought us increased health, communication, printing, roads, and advancements that built up industrial civilization as we know it. Perhaps the second agriculture age will bring about the full potential of humans and launch a conscious smart civilization where we finally understand the value of how to better relate to ourselves, each other, ideas (immaterial) and things (material), and the planets biosphere as a whole.

01.01.2022 Autumn is a great time to test your #soil. The soil is still relatively dry, there is a minimal build-up of organic material and it gives you time to adjust nutrient levels before the new growing season. image: Hyde Park by Adam Monk
