18.01.2022 This door! This door is the front door to one of my fabulous photography sets. From when I relocated to the USA in March 2015 I did a bit of a photography tour series each and every year with my lil biz @pearl_davies_photography which usually started in Las Vegas. I then shwished around different states depending on my travel arrangements (my friends would elope in the Bahamas so I’d offer photography sessions in Orlando Florida before and after we sailed out), or dependin...g on where I was producing shows (I worked tours within the music industry and would be flown and travel all over). All totally badass. This fabulous door though, inside this amazing residence of @luxe_vegas on my annual #PDUSATour I was due to photograph clients in this space last year but covid had other plans. We still have a $2K flight credit to head over so it will eventually happen. Australia still has travel bans but just for kicks I went on line about 8 weeks ago to see flight costs, a return flight to Los Angeles from Sydney was almost $27,000. 15.01.2022 A cheeky looksie of our @atomic_hideaway bedroom. I see I’ve posted a few pink bits on the feed of late () so check out this quick pan of our hideaway bedroom including our custom splayed door trimming, facets of our golden 4 poster bed (drapey mosquito net on route), a golden starburst mirror I scored for $20 on facebook marketplace a bit back and we can’t be forgetting our starburst door escutcheon by our pal Jason over at @vintage_revival_art_co . I swear this place if f...illed with so many pieces from different creatives I love it! My biggest and bestest collaboration to date. Also, hands up who feels I should paint HUGE pink diamonds on those closet doors..? I opted for timber doors and not mirrors because 1. There would just be way too much light reflection for my @pearl_davies_photography sessions and 2. Diamonds Cast your votes! Give me a yay or nay for painting pink diamonds on these doors (I’ll be stealing the idea from another creative @kaitlyns.day.off ). Inside the closet we’ve put up shelving for towels, extra blankets, even drilled in a lock and key safe for all your important bits for when you come visit. We have baby goods in there incase you bring your lil babe to stay, there’s a roller bed in there (I made sure the wardrobe was built deep enough for it to fit), there’s a kiddies high chair in there, iron and ironing board (but seriously though, I haven’t ironed since the 90’s), a luggage rack stand and more! Seriously though s the @atomic_hideaway has everything you need for your short stay. The more we’re locked down due to covid (*cough*, so we’re currently locked down due to covid) the more I add to it. 11.01.2022 The Atomic Hideaway Newcastle build: Part VI His and her steal beams! First of all, how cute is this mini crane! Our project needed all the minis as we have a narrow driveway (you can see here it just fit) and it was the only accessible way we could get this done. We’re in the city so surrounded by both residential and commercial spaces. Mini cranes, mini excavators juuust fit down the drive, and were super cute. They used a whistle of all things to communicate with the crane... operator in lifting and lowering the beams in place, it was interesting to watch, and I was this close to pulling out my pom poms and having a bit of a jig in tune with the whistle blower, *toot-toot* The lower level has its own steal beam so we can lift up the 1969 Morris Mini construction, the height of that ceiling is the highest we could get it within our local council parameters. The upper level steal beam is for meeeee, my @pearl_davies_photography so I can hang lots of cool things like Lyra hoops, silks, swings, anything really up to say 500KG. 09.01.2022 @ricky.teevee is insane! Check out his work, all hand crafted from a pencil sketch Ricky is getting quite a name for himself in the world of creatives. Each design so much different from the last, his clients put so much trust in him but it pays off every. single. time. This design for @miracleeye makes my love heart so happy, that and lellow (yellow) is my favourite colour because it reminds me of happiness. Weeeee! #Repost @ricky.teevee... Trust the process . Bout to shrink wrap these displays for @miracleeye then load them into a Uhaul. I came across this crappy little model mock up I made to show Larissa what I planned to build. This was practically all she had to sign off on. No fancy CAD drawings. She trusted me to create her dream shop off of these horrible sketches and a couple little models. As did @south_quarter before her. I’m so lucky to have the clients I’ve had this year. Letting me do it the way I’m comfortable and equip to. In my super unprofessional way, but luckily the work does most of the talking for me . My process after meeting the client is to go into a deep design rabbit hole. Listen to music the fits the vibe and cycling through Pinterest for inspiration and mood boarding. Then I sketch random ideas and stare blankly into space for a week. Then I whip up these crappy models and get so invested and excited that if the client doesn’t like it I wanna quit before we start .
