24.01.2022 What I wouldn’t give to just face plant a cassia oil flavoured banana cake right now. Wheat free though... INGREDIENTS ... 150 g butter cubed (or coconut oil) 3 ripe bananas mashed 2 eggs 2 cups almond meal 1 tsp vanilla paste 2 drops cassia oil 1 tsp baking powder METHOD Preheat oven to 180C & line a loaf tin with baking paper. In a cream the butter, eggs, cassia oil, and vanilla. In a large bowl mix the almond meal and baking powder. Add the butter mixture & mashed bananas, stir until combined. Transfer mixture into tin, and place in to the oven for 50 minutes or until it springs back when you lightly touch the top. Allow to cool, serve & enjoy with a cup of tea! Cassia oil is in the cinnamon family and is incredibly good for the immune system, and ummm, flatulence! And for anyone who’s just watched our Insta stories, I can attest to you that Jack’s farts do not actually smell at all like the lemons he’s professing they do.

20.01.2022 Banish butt stink from your sofa! Unlike this pristine apartment by @swsco, if your couch is anything like mine, it will be made up of 70% man made fibres, 20% sultanas, 2% miscellaneous crumbs, 1% spare change, and 7% mystery stinks. Evelyn did a stellar job at vomiting on the sofa week before last. ... #thisiswhywecanthavenicethings After adding our On Guard concentrated cleaner into my carpet shampoo machine, I spot cleaned all the cushions and the random nooks & crannies that her stomach contents pooled their way into. To get rid of the lingering stench of ‘carpet pizza’ I made up a spritz bottle of natural Febreeze. 100ml spray bottle 1 tbs bi-carb Cooled boiled water 10 drops of essential oils - I chose a mixture of tea tree, lemon & eucalyptus. Add bi-carb to bottle (I rolled up a pice of paper into a funnel like cone to do this), add oils, then top up bottle with water. Give it a swish and spritz as needed. Use for teenage bedrooms, residual car fart stench in the drivers seat that wafts up your face every time you get in it after your husband’s had the car, and dog beds. Both lemon and tea tree come as part of our Home Essentials Kit, a collection of the top 10 essential oils no home should be without. It also comes with a diffuser, and 25% off your future purchases. http://www.thearomaco.com/how-to-buy-oils/

17.01.2022 I have got to stop watching Netflix food & pharma documentaries. I don’t watch much TV, but I did have a bit of a binge over this cold and wet weekend. While some people’s guilty pleasure is a show like Riverdale, I can’t help but be sucked in by a doco. My first peek behind the consumer curtain was when I was working as a commercial manager in digital content and media. To say it’s shocking would be an understatement - big food and pharma have a lot to answer for. ... If you haven’t seen The Magic Pill yet, go watch it! As I sip on my hot water with lemon oil, plotting my pantry overhaul, I’d love to know what your guilty Netflix pleasure is?

15.01.2022 Me reminding myself to post my natural oil spiked play dough recipe... Coloured Play dough Ingredients:... 1 cup water 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1/2 cup salt 1 tablespoon cream of tartar Natural food coloring 1 cup flour 6 drops of your favourite dTERRA essential oil Sprinkle of biodegradable glitter Method: Combine water, oil, salt, cream of tartar, and food coloring in a saucepan and gently heat until salt dissolves. Remove from heat and add flour. Stir, then knead until smooth. The cream of tartar makes this dough last 6 months or longer, so resist the temptation to omit this ingredient if you don't have it on hand. Mine has lasted 18 months! Store this dough in an airtight container or a Ziploc bag. Oils I like to use are Lavender for calming, peppermint for mental stimulation, lemon and orange for uplifting, and On Guard for a warm comforting scent. Most of these oils are in the Home Essentials Kit which is a collection of the top ten oils every home should have. I It comes with a diffuser and will help you ward off colds, flus, tummy bugs, while giving you the tools to manages headaches, respiratory health, emotional wellbeing, stress, and pain. 14.01.2022 As my friend @petaserras likes to say, he’s either a foot man, or an ass man. Either way, Jack Frost ain’t gonna be nipping on my toes this winter. I don’t know what it is about a Ballarat winter but I only seem to be prone to chilblains when we live here. ... Not anymore! Last winter here was the first I’ve not had them because I got savvy with my oils. After I jump out of the shower I slick my body oil on from head to toe. Recipes for my body oil change on the regular so I’ll save them for another post, but they are always in a carrier of coconut oil. Once I’m ‘aromatically dressed’ and have avoided my eyes, pits, & bits, (because NO ONE wants lemongrass on their hoo-haa- trust me), I whip out the On Guard. I keep a bottle of On Guard in my bathroom drawer, and will add a drop or two to the soles of my feet and around my toes. On Guard has both clove and cinnamon oils in the blend which are not only warming, but great for circulation! Perfect if you’re a cold fish like me. Other oils in On Guard are eucalyptus, rosemary and wild orange, all incredible to boost your immune system keeping seasonal threats at bay! On Guard comes as part of you Home Essentials Kit, the top ten oils no home should be without. You get: Frankincense Lavender Lemon Tea Tree Oregano Peppermint doTERRA Easy Air DigestZen doTERRA On Guard Ice Blue a Petal Diffuser And not only do you get lifetime support from essential oil experts, it nets you 25% off you future dTERRA purchases! 13.01.2022 Seeing as though we’re on the cold & flu bandwagon, I’ve found this little number is incredible at clearing up a sore throat. The decongestant and expectorant properties of Lemon myrtle oil acts effectively in addressing chest congestion, flu, cold, bronchitis, asthma and sinus infections. Adding 3 drops of Lemon myrtle oil in steam inhalation can assist in alleviating headache, loosening mucus and phlegm deposits in the lungs and respiratory passages. The therapeutic molecu...les in this oil aids in controlling the increase of infectious particles that worsen cold and cough. Certain anecdotal evidences witness that the expected number of cold, cough and sinus problems are lower in households that regularly use Lemon myrtle oil in aroma lamps. You can also add 2 drops of this oil to your vaporizing ointment and gently massage onto your chest, back, forehead and throat for relieving from congestion and easing difficulties in breathing. Respiratory problems in general spoil your sleep at night, adding 2 drops of Lemon myrtle oil in hot bath especially before bed will help in promoting peaceful sleep at night. by me Cherie Birks The Aroma Co http://www.thearomaco.com/how-to-buy-oils/

12.01.2022 Back in February, I took some images of oils and paired them with some of @GandJBallarat’s Aura range of jewellery, particularly the natural diamonds. Without looking too far into it, I paired various pieces with oils that seemed to go well together. When I was editing this photo, I checked the meta-data and the exact time that I took this image was 1:11:11.... That certainly caught my attention! 11:11 said to be an angel number, is supposed to be a sign that what you’re thinking and the nature of that though will manifest into reality. The message behind 11:11 is that you are to take responsibility and create consciously. You are the creator the writer, producer, director, and actor in your own story. I take it as a sign that I’m on the right track. I then looked up the metaphysical properties of Diamond as a gemstone. It enhances inner vision and stimulates creativity, imagination, and ingenuity, opening the mind to the new and possible. Diamond has been known as a Stone of Invincibility, bringing strength, fortitude and courage to its wearer. It is associated with fearlessness, and for its properties of protection. It is a symbol of wealth and manifesting abundance in one’s life, an amplifier of energies, goals and intent. And since I was already that far down the rabbit hole, I looked into the emotional benefits of Roman Chamomile. This is the oil of spiritual purpose. Roman Chamomile supports those to discover their power and purpose, and help them feel calm, spiritually guided, fulfilled, and at peace. All 3 of those things, the numbers, the diamonds, and Roman Chamomile are purported to support spiritual connection, and an awareness of self. In the diffuser right now, I’ve got Roman Chamomile, Litsea - the oil of manifestation, and lavender - the oil of calm and communication. 11.01.2022 One thing I don’t love about my walk in robe with open shoe shelving, (particularly when it’s shared with gym kit and trainers), is that my clothes often carry a subtle smell of feet. Now I’m not talking tangy sweat shop, but a subtle odour of ‘toe jam’. 2 things I do to tame that tootsie stench, I keep a container of bicarb soda in there with 4 drops lemon oil, 4 drops oregano oil, and 4 drops of On Guard blend. ... The other is that I have a spray bottle, just with water in it and 6 drops of clove oil, that I spritz around the house when there’s a mega stink. Or a loo spray which again is just water, with a few drops of tea tree and a couple of drops of eucalyptus. And if there’s shoes that are totally rancid, they get a spritz of tea tree, oregano and lemon; 3 drops each in a spray bottle with water. All these oils are anti fungal, anti microbial, and great at deodorising. All of these oils, except clove & eucalyptus are available in the Home Essentials Kit. At $330 it is the top 10 oils no home should be without, as it covers off the majority of a family’s wellness needs to support a low tox lifestyle. 11.01.2022 One thing (of millions BTW...), that I can no longer stand, is the smell of the supermarket. In particular the home and personal care aisles. Not only do they smell headache inducing and horrific, but home care products don’t even have to have their ingredients listed. Which is a huge cause for concern when they have warnings on the labels that say ‘skin and eye irritant’, and ‘use in well ventilated area’. ... WTF?! While my sofa might stink of kid farts, I’m not about to attack it with hormone disrupting chemical warfare. Natural Fabric Freshener 100ml glass spray bottle 1 Tbsp bicarb soda Distilled water - warm 5 drops lavender 5 drops lemon oil Combine in the bottle, gently shake, and spritz on area as needed. You’re welcome! We’re hosting 2 open classes in the 6th May at @oscarshotel in Ballarat. 1pm is a beginners oil class 3pm is a ‘Got oils, now what?’ class Both are free, but we will have all the amber glass bottles and rollers for you to purchase to make your tox free essential oil solutions in. 10.01.2022 Our sense of smell is one of our most powerful senses, and you have probably noticed in your own experience that some scents are more positively associated in our minds than others. Your body contains over 1,000 receptors for smellmore receptors than for any other sense. By putting essential oils directly into the air we breathe, we can influence the feeling of our environment, and, more powerfully, our own emotions. The doTERRA Emotional Aromatherapy System contains six ...blends formulated to address specific emotions, but any oil can have this impact. We know that citrus oils, for example, are uplifting and energizing to your mood, while scents like Lavender or doTERRA Balance are calming and grounding. While smell is a great tool, there are other reasons that diffusing essential oils can be beneficial to you: It can purify the air in your home. Juniper Berry, Lemon, Lime, Tea Tree, and specific blends like Purify and doTERRA On Guard are useful for this purpose. Some oils can help maintain feelings of clear breathing and open airways. For example, doTERRA Easy Air, Douglas Fir, Lavender, and Eucalyptus all have this ability, among other oils. To minimize the effects of seasonal threats. Specifically Arborvitae and doTERRA Easy Air. Only a small amount of oil needs to be used if you’re using it in an ultrasonic diffuser. This means you can use one bottle of essential oil many times before you’ll need more. How to Diffuse The best way to diffuse is to use ultrasonic (water) diffusion. Heating oils to diffuse them can alter their delicate chemistry. Most of the diffusers doTERRA offers are ultrasonic diffusers, meaning that they use water to disperse the oil into the air. To diffuse in an ultrasonic diffuser, put cool tap water to the fill line and add at least two drops or more to the water. Then, choose the time setting you desire and let it run. If you don’t have a diffuser, there are other ways to enjoy the benefits of diffusing. Try adding a few drops of essential oil to your palms and cup them over your nose while you inhale deeply. This is an easy technique especially when you’re on the go. Or, add some drops of oil to a glass spray-bottle with water and spritz around the room. http://www.thearomaco.com/how-to-buy-oils/ @findingfemme

10.01.2022 Still in love with this little beauty! When nature has work to be done, she creates a genius to do it. Ralph Waldo Emerson I have had the most profound experience with lemon myrtle, more so than any other oil I think I’ve ever used. ... A few weeks ago when I got hold of this little bottle, I was feeling pretty down, experiencing feelings of despair and grief. You see, I have a number of my beautiful oil customers with some really serious diagnosis, terminal even. And on the train on the way home from collecting this oil, the heaviness weighed down on me. I’ve always been one to choose oils intuitively, reaching out and grasping a bottle without over thinking it, and it ends up being just the one I need. This day, it was lemon myrtle. I removed the lid and upended the bottle on my finger, taking that drop of oil, I rubbed it on my chest neat. Which I actually don’t recommend because it was bloody strong! I searched in my bag quickly for a roller bottle of any oil that had fractionated coconut oil in it to help dilute; I randomly picked up Rose. I rolled my Rose Touch over the spot where I had rubbed the lemon myrtle, and the sensation I was having on the skin immediately calmed. Taking a mental note of the time, I went about working away on my laptop. 6 minutes is all it took. It was like a switch just flicked in my brain. Snap! The mourning, grief, and despair were gone in an instant, making way for hope, optimism, clarity and calm. Just like that. The only other time I can think of an oil having having such an emotional effect on me was Elevation - our joyful blend, where it took me 4 days of diffusing it for me to realise I was happier as most oils work subtly with our bodily systems. Lemon myrtle will be available exclusively to our Australian dTERRA customers in April & May via our In Bloom promo, and I cannot wait for you to experience it! 07.01.2022 Mnuka is by far the best antihistamine oil I've used, taking down my entire body full of hives in 40 minutes flat! I also recently had some skin sensitivity around my eyes from Rose Hip oil (for som reason it doesn’t like my face!), so I just popped in some Mãnuka diluted in the roller bottle with coconut oil - problem solved! And if you watched our Instagram stories you know the kids went to a birthday party and had their faces painted. Jack was ok, but both Evie and the b...irthday girl were allergic to the paint so after removing the paint with a little coconut oil, we were able to take down the redness and itching with diluted Mãnuka. Diffuse it for spring hay fever, or add it to a 10ml roller bottle with fractionated coconut oil, with a few drops of lavender and peppermint. Or pop it in your skin care for seriously clear skin. I’ve also been using this a lot one the last weekend for its emotional benefits. Mãnuka is the oil of being upheld, and I’ve been pairing it with lady Lavender who is the oil of calm and communication. There have been many challenging and confronting conversations had and I feel really well supported by these two oils. This means I’ve been able to avoid taking antihistamines, pain killers, and mood altering medications. Such simple yet profound solutions, to manage a range of life events naturally. Healthy is simple. Reach out if you’re seeking natural solutions and don’t know where to start. Cherie x

06.01.2022 As a kid, chocolate self-saucing pudding was a winter favourite that my mum would bake for dessert. Proper soul food. But since we’re looking to reduce the amount of inflammatory ingredients we’re using in our food, here’s a clean recipe that works a treat! ... You can even add a few drops of wild orange oil to make it Jaffa flavoured! Ingredients serves four Pre-heat oven to 180C + Boil the kettle Pudding: 1 cup buckwheat flour (250ml) 2/3 cup almond milk (or milk of your choice) 1/3 cup raw cacao powder 1/3 cup olive oil 1/2 cup rice malt syrup 1 egg lightly beaten 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp bicarb soda 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (this activates the bicarb and helps the pudding to rise) 12 drops of wild orange oil Method: Mix together until combined into a batter. Pour into a 20cm baking dish or 4 ramekin dishes Chocolate sauce: 1/4 cup raw cacao powder 1/3 cup rice malt syrup 2 tbls honey (optional, I like the rich flavour honey gives as rice malt syrup is very plain but you can omit if you like) 1 1/4 cups boiling water Method: Mix together using a large spoon or spatula so you don’t damage the pudding batter, carefully pour the chocolate sauce over the back of the spoon or spatula into the baking dish over the batter. You don’t want to be too rough and break the mix up too much as it may end up with a sloppy texture so just go slow. Bake in the oven for 20-30 mins depending on your dish size until the center of the pudding is firm. 06.01.2022 The Brave Blend... Turns out, the story of my customer who’s 7yo son ceased bed wetting after we mixed up a special oil blend, has got everyone asking for it. We picked these particular oils for their emotional properties based on the individual child. Cypress was a major draw because it is the oil of motion & flow. It allows the user to relinquish the need to control, and feel more easily adaptable. ... We called the Blend Brave. I did 5 drops of cypress, 10 Lavender, 10 wild orange, & 2 Roman Chamomile in 10ml of coconut oil. Usually, for general anxious feelings, I recommend the Peace roller blend that dTERRA already makes to apply topically, and Balance Blend with some lavender in the diffuser. Cx

05.01.2022 The term essential oils is used because the liquid contains the essence of whatever its source plant is. The oil itself is a highly potent, highly concentrated substance. Many of the benefits of essential oils have to do with their aromas. To see how different aromas and chemicals in essential oils effect on your emotions, check out the oil properties wheel. However, other research also shows that essential oils can help the body in more ways. Physiology aside, whether or n...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Head colds. Kind of like a side effect of winter right? What’s really gross is that every time you breathe in, particularly if you spend a lot of time with the general public, you’re inhaling other people’s second hand, coughed up cooties. ... Those darling little pathogens set up camp in the back of your throat where it’s all warm and moist, and have an orgy. Yep. They breed like rabbits, worse than rabbits really. Other people’s rabbits. In. Your. Throat. And producing mucous is one of our body’s ways to get rid of the germs. It usually leaves us with the symptoms of a runny nose, blocked sinuses, coughs, headaches, slight fever, and inflamed ears, nose and throats. You know, all the glorious stuff that makes up feel like we’ve been hit by a rusty lawn chair, to the head. To alleviate the misery, I whipped up a blend this week, perfect to roll around the forehead, behind the ears, back of the neck, and dot over the sinuses. In a 10ml roller I filled it 2/3’s with fractionated coconut oil and added: 5 drops Siberian fir 5 drops Easy Air blend (Breath in the US) 5 drops Eucalyptus 5 drops Marjoram Siberian fir has a naturally occurring high camphor content making it perfect to use for colds and flus. Easy Air (or Breath) is dTERRA’s respiratory blend which aids in the relief of sinus and respiratory troubles. Eucalyptus is great to relieve congestion, inflammation of the ears, nose and throat, and is powerful to use against viral infections. Marjoram is incredible to use for pain relief and restful sleep. While this is a topical blend, these oils can easily be added to the diffuser. To support our immune health before those cooties set up their rampant breeding party in our throats, we can diffuse On Guard regularly. When we diffuse oils, the aromatic particles help kill off airborne pathogens before we’ve even breathed them in. High 5 for On Guard - the prophylactic of essential oils! On Guard and Easy Air come as part of you Home Essentials Kit, the top ten oils no home should be without, and a free diffuser. It's the best value way to get started with your oils! www.thearomaco.com/how-to-buy-oils/

01.01.2022 Watch where you touch yourself after you’ve rubbed it on... we’re my words of wisdom after I gave out some Ice Blue oil and magnesium salts recently. With instructions to add 1-2 drops to the bath with a handful of salts, and use the oil topically for pain relief and physical discomfort, I did ensure I had pre-diluted the oil in our fractionated coconut oil. During my classes I teach people to dilute their essential oils in a carrier oil for topical use. ... They do provide immediate comfort and only take 2 minutes to be found in the blood stream. Essential oils are pure plant extracts that are 50-70 times stronger than the plant matter they’re distilled from. They are volatile compounds which basically means if you leave the lid off, they’re prone to evaporation. While many oils are mild enough to use straight on the skin, or ‘neat’ as we say, knowing they’re volatile and take 2 minutes to permeate the skin, about 75% of that neat oil will have evaporated before its had a chance to soak in. For topical therapeutic application I recommend to stick to doTERRA's fractionated coconut oil because it's specifically filtered to be a very regular and particular molecule size, to hold onto the aromatic particles of the essential oils we're blending it with, so as it can permeate the skin membrane and carry those molecules around the body to do the jobs we need it too. We also teach you to keep oils out of your eyes, pits and bits, because no one wants wintergreen on their wang. In the case of sensitivity, dilute off with more carrier oil...
