19.01.2022 Being able to create something out of nothing is so rewarding.... This 30sqm attic room we are currently on in #roseville is coming along a treat. The guys have managed to get almost to gyproc stage with 7 days which is pretty awesome! The design brief was a flexible space which could be used as a kids play area as they grow but still be used for when a visitor comes to stay etc. ... 2 #fakro dual action roof windows supplied by #kimberleyproducts will give plenty of natural light to the space. Not quite the attic space, but this customer asked us to take out some walls to open up the downstairs in addition to their attic works. We had an awkward looking opening here and the customer wanted something to fill the space. Still needs a paint and some finishing but the fit was snug as a glove!... 13.01.2022 Processes! Our double dormer attic conversion in Waverley is going to look amazing once complete....but getting there is a process! Last year the building code changed in that class 2 dwellings such as this one, must be built from non-combustible materials. Whereas we would normally build from timber, we have had to adapt and build from steel! ... The structural strength in steel is great! However there is no give or take with steel. We can't plane or notch it to suit- and in a 100yr old property where very little is square or level... that isn't always easy! So bit by bit, piece by piece the structure is going in!! These big 150x150 angles you see here will have steel joists welded to them. The other end will be sat on a steel top plates the team have already installed to the external wall! Fakro skylights are European made using select grade knot-free Nordic pine timber. This is particularly important as knotted timber creates weak points and often leads to warped timber. Not what you want from something keeping the rain outside! Other brands now conceal the quality of their timber by... priming the surface. Not Fakro however.
