18.01.2022 I'm afraid we have some sad news - Atticus Finch will be closing its doors this Sunday 22nd December. Some of you have heard us talk in recent months about the fact that Queensland Urban Utilities did a water audit on our building and require us to install a grease trap due to the amount of water we use. Unfortunately they are not a budging and the cost of installing (some $20,000 plus) is just too steep for us. So we have had to make the tough decision to close. We've had a...n absolute blast over the past six years and have become great friends with so many of you (and all of your good doggos). So we want the next week to not be a sad one - instead we want it to be a celebration all things Atticus. We'll be posting memories and thanks all week, and we want to see you all down here for one last coffee, Fancy Mince and sneaky admiring glance at Tom's short shorts before we close for good on Sunday at 2pm. So no tears, just cheers to Atticus!

Today, we will be shutting early at 12.30pm in support of the great people who support us every day as they join Brisbane's climate change protest in the CBD. We couldn't be more proud. Six years ago we found a little space that was perfect for us to test our idea for a dog-friendly, down-to-earth cafe that we wanted to be filled with happiness, creativity and integrity. We chose the name Atticus Finch because (apart from being a super-cool name) who stands for community and integrity more than To Kill a Mockingbird’s main man, Atticus? Fast forward six years and we couldn’t be more proud of what Atticus has become. Someone once said th...at cafes are the modern campfire - a place where people come together to share stories, laughs and lives. Nothing could be more true of Atticus. We have had the pleasure of getting to know a community of locals we now call friends. We have seen babies grow to little people, puppies grow to the best doggos and sadly farewelled more than one furry friend. And we couldn’t feel more privileged to have shared every moment. We have been truly touched by the huge amount of love and support you have all shown after we announced we were closing. And rest assured you’ll be the first to know if Atticus appears in any other form or place. In the meantime, thank you. We seriously have the best customers - two legged and four. We love seeing you every day. And we will miss you all terribly. And finally, a massive, gigantic, too-big-to-put-into-words thank you to the entire Atticus team. This bunch of amazing, talented, creative, caring and hilarious people have made us what we are and we will be forever grateful. We love you all so much. Since our post about closing this Sunday we have been overwhelmed with messages, well wishes, concerned friends, phone calls and the most amazingly (and we do mean amazingly) generous offers of support. They are doing it again for 2019 and are collecting non-perishable food for @foodbankqld sanitary items and toiletries for @sharethedignityaustralia and children’s books for @thesmithfamilyaus .
