21.01.2022 As many companies are beginning to slowly return to the office, leaders are finding it difficult to manage a team when some people are back at the office and some aren't. As the leader, how do you manage these various circumstances while treating everyone fairly? 1. Set clear expectations. Agree on collective priorities, objectives, and norms for communicating. That may mean using collaboration tools like Slack or Trello, or having scheduled team calls.... 2. Prioritise flexibility. Within reason, give your team the autonomy they need to manage their competing work/life commitments. 3. Emphasise equity and inclusion. Resist the assumption that in-office employees are more productive than WFH employees. Set clear metrics for a fair evaluation. 4. Watch for signs of burnout. Stress and exhaustion are common in this current climate, so monitor your team closely and offer support if you feel that someone needs it. 20.01.2022 Teams are made up of individuals and, like any social group, there will be differences in personalities. The key to high performance is for these personalities to work together cohesively to deliver results in an environment built on trust, where team members engage in productive conflict, commit to decisions and hold each other to account. Attitude Works uses the latest research into organisational psychology and neuroscience to develop tailored training programs to improve ...the emotional intelligence (EQ) of teams. Based on self-assessment, before and after our training, participants rated their emotional intelligence to have improved by between 33 and 55 percent. 17.01.2022 Motivation - What really drives us? In 2011, Harvard Business Review and Thinkers 50 named Daniel Pink one of the top 50 business thinkers in the world. If you haven't already done so I suggest you read his book "Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us". Most people believe that the best way to motivate is with rewards like money, or the carrot and stick approach. But according to Pink that's a mistake. In Drive, he asserts that the secret to high performance and s...atisfaction is the need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world. In his book he explains the three elements of true motivation: autonomy, mastery, and purpose. If you don't have time to read his book then check out this great animation.

15.01.2022 Discover how emotional intelligence training can transform your people into great leaders. Many people are promoted to management because of their technical skills. However, there is a change required when moving from self-managing to managing others. Technical skills are important but emotions play a significant role too. 13.01.2022 Engaging in uncomfortable conversations and debating with someone who doesn’t share our views can be a challenge. Instead of avoiding those conversations, research shows that a technique called conversational receptiveness may help by opening your discussion partner up to a new point of view. Here's how to do it: 1. Acknowledging other’s perspectives: Using phrases such as "I understand that" or, "I see your point..."... 2. Highlighting areas of agreement: "I agree we both want XYZ" or, "We both agree that XYZ is important" 3. Hedging claims: Indicating some uncertainty about your own points can signal receptiveness. Using downgraders to soften factual claims (e.g. "somewhat", "may", "perhaps"). 4. Positive framing: Communicating what you want vs. what you do not want (e.g. "We should consider the benefit of investing less resources in XYZ" vs. "We shouldn’t invest additional resources in XYZ") Find out about how AttitudeWorks can help develop your leaders and teams: www.attitudeworks.com.au [email protected] #consultancy #emotionalintelligence #productitivity #workplaceculture #teamwork #salestraining #coaching #projectmanagement #upskill #stafftraining #businesssolutions #leadership #EQ #disagreement

09.01.2022 Productive individuals are proactive with their time and achieve more in their day. In order for us to be proactive, we have to reconsider our habits by determining which ones hold us back and how we can improve the others. Here are some habits of productive people that we should all be implementing: 1. Know your priorities and have a schedule. Create a structured and regular routine to adhere to, such as checking your emails at set times during the day.... 2. Tackle your challenging tasks before lunch. Knock out your most challenging work when your brain is fresh and alert. 3. Follow the 80/20 rule. Only 20 percent of what you do each day produces 80 percent of your results. 4. Take more breaks. Don't soldier on when your mind needs a break. Give yourself a moment to refresh by going for a walk, grabbing a snack from the kitchen, or simply stepping back from your project for a few minutes. We can help create long-term positive attitudes and behaviours in the workplace using the latest psychological research.
