22.01.2022 Hello Everybody, In the interest of the wellbeing of all members and their families, the Executive Committee has decided that during the COVID-19 Pandemic outbreak the Atujara MCC should suspend all clubroom-based activities for the immediate and short-term future (approximately 3-4 months). It is the hope of the Executive Committee that minimising person to person contact, along with the guidelines posted by health authorities and Federal Government, that these precautions w...ill contribute to the safety of the Atujara membership and wider community during this public health crisis. The general business of the club can be done remotely, there will be likely little to report from the committees during this time. The communication between committees and the executive can be submitted remotely and emailed to members as they become available. Activities such as bill paying, Hillclimb admin (in the recent event postponement) and the like can also be done remotely. Thank you for your understanding at this time, we will endeavour to communicate any further updates via the Facebook page and e-mail as they become available. If you need, please contact the Executive members directly for any clarification. We wish all members and friends of the club good health and wellbeing to themselves, their families and loved ones during these strange times. We, as a club and community hope to see you all when club activity resumes! Best Regards, Atujara MCC Executive See more
21.01.2022 Are there any souls who fancy a Pony Express a couple of hours north of Adelaide on the 25th of July? $120 a team for Seniors and plenty of prize money up for grabs! Head to Crystal Brook Motorcycle Club for more details, Supp Regs and how to enter!
20.01.2022 In light of the news that the HARDI Australia 24hr Reliability Trial is back on again, this time taking place on the weekend of the 5th and 6th of September we can look upon pictures such as this with a sense of longing. This year, due to the event running in Spring we may see a smaller number of competitors and spectators in this situation. Here we have Chris Lang and a uniquely placed Daihatsu Van: ... "Taken about late June 1981, Chris Lang and Colin Daddow learning the 24 Hour Trial course in Colin's Daihatsu "Bread Box" van with Colin's then girlfriend and Chris's pregnant wife Mandy. Somewhere in the Northern Barossa the van failed to find traction on the slippery off camber track. Fortunately it didn't weight much and we were soon on our way with Chris bouncing on the rear to find some drive. The practice paid off as Chris and Colin on the 650 Yamaha WASP outfit managed a trouble free trial a couple of weeks later in a lot more mud than the practice day." We're certainly looking forward to this years event when hopefully a bit of normality comes back to our way of life!
20.01.2022 Attention all, After much deliberation within the Hillclimb Committee surrounding the circumstances of the COVID-19 Pandemic we have decided to postpone the Collingrove Hillcimb event. This decision was not made lightly and has been made with the health and well being of all volunteers, officials, spectators and competitors in mind. ... We would love nothing more than to hold this great event and for everyone to have a fantastic day in the beautiful Barossa Valley. We are looking into the possibility of running the event later in the year but those decisions will come in due time and you will be made aware of that as soon as something is decided. We cannot thank you enough for all the support you've given the event this year, with only 3 days left we're close to fully subscribed. We will have some news on refunds in the coming days. We'd like to take this opportunity to once again thank all of our sponsors who have supported the event this year: Shannons Mismatch Brewing Company Cresta Plastics AMX Superstores South Australia Power Brakes Redline Exhausts Please share this post if you were planning on entering or spectating so word can be passed around. Once again, thanks for your support and understanding, this has not been an easy decision to make in these uncertain times.

18.01.2022 I imagine there's a few out there who have a similar picture of a bike of theirs that's had a tree jump out at them! Pictured here we have an early 60's C15T (Trials) BSA, loaned to one Richard Metcalf by another member for the running of the 1969 24 Hour Trial. Richard has suggested that this "slight" bend in the forks was the reason for his early retirement that year. ... I can't say I'm surprised! Let's hope a new set of forks were found, repairs were made and this bike lived a happy life without the fear of trees in the night!

15.01.2022 Well, there's action aplenty on the South Australian Vintage Motocross scene! Steve Magnusson has broken the news that there will once again be a Motocross event in South Australia with the Laurie Boulter name attached to it. This has been done in consultation with the club and Atujara MCC are proud to support however we can. This event will _not_ be held at ACUSA Park on the "top" track as it was, details of the event including venue and dates are yet to come to light, but w...hen they do we will post them up. If you're into your Vintage MX or SA Motocross history in general, Steve and the guys on the SA VMX page have plenty to see and do! Stay tuned for more details!
15.01.2022 A sad weekend for the motorcycling community in South Australia. A dear friend of Atujara and all those who met him, John Strauss passed away in his sleep on Saturday night. Vale John Strauss "John joined the Atujara MCC in5/4/71 and was a regular entrant of the Atujara Team in road trials for many years. He was certainly one of the Club’s top trials rider and very fast.... Only in later years, did he try the bitumen road racing scene on his immaculate Yamaha RDLC, where he enjoyed mixing it with the younger generations. Many of the younger riders were shocked at his speed and ability. John was not only recognised for his riding skills, but also his ability to tell very amusing stories as well as his singing ability at presentations where the tunes of Mellow Yellow rang through the PA system. John’s working career was in the motor industry where he was a well-respected lecturer and within that industry, everyone knew Straussy. If you did a favour for Straussy, he went out of his way to ensure he paid you back two fold. Around the campfire, he will be sorely missed, but there are so many tales to continue on for years about our Mate Straussy." - Richard Metcalf. (I'll be sure to raise a glass and my voice in memory of the great man who showed me all the fast lines at Mac Park during my first race meeting - Clayton) Feel free to share a picture or story of Straussy as I'm sure we've all got very fond memories of the great man!
13.01.2022 Hi Everyone, We trust that you are all doing well in light of current events and no doubt you'd rather be roaring up the hill today. Just touching base to let you know that refunds will be sent out in short order to those people who entered. The single event licence portion will be refunded separately as that money is held by MSA currently.... The Hillclimb committee is looking at the possibility of running the event later in the year so keep an eye on the page so you stay informed. Stay safe everyone and keep it shiny side up ^_^ -Clayton

10.01.2022 Are we excited to see some sunshine as well as some normality return to the world? A keen member who shan't be named shared these pictures recently of his beautiful 1977 CB450 which has recently been imported from the USA and registered on the road here in SA. What a gorgeous example and I'm sure there's more than a few who'd love a go on this Japanese beauty!... Looking forward to seeing this one around the Adelaide Hills (and maybe Mac Park) for years to come!
10.01.2022 Boy oh boy it's a bit frosty today, must be heading into that winter season which makes most people on 2 wheels sit the bikes in the shed for some well deserved TLC! For your viewing pleasure tonight we have Tom Lang on his trusty XL185 at Lake Gairdner in 2010. Tom looks like he's hanging out for a frosty beer after his next attempt!... Tom managed a swift 82MPH for the meet with a "mostly" stock engine, well done Tom and we're all thinking of warm places today! Does anyone out there have some stories from Lake Gairdner?
07.01.2022 As we're all cooped up doing our best to maintain good hygiene and social distancing, let's take the time to have a wee look back at a bit of fun members have had on, with and in pursuit of motorcycling. Up first we have Club Patron, Gentleman and Businessman Fred (Derry) Greeneklee aboard his late 60's 350cc AJS at an observed trial. "Derry was a very good trials rider and created magic on that AJS!"... This is an impressive bit of photography for the time and shows that back in the day style and talent went hand in hand! If you ever bump in to Derry around the place, be sure to ask him about his trusty AJS and how much fun he had aboard!

06.01.2022 One of our Club Members has this Yamaha TZ350 for sale, so if you’re looking for a GP bike for the track or for the lounge room, or know of somebody looking for one, please get in contact with us here for Bretts contact details. FOR SALE:- Yamaha TZ350 D Are you in need of something to spend some quality shed time with while in home isolation to get ready for the Aussie Nationals in November? (fingers crossed it still goes ahead!)... Not much on the market at the moment in the way of P5 350GP bikes in Aus., so maybe you should consider this.... 1977 TZ350 D Matching numbers bike and log booked for P5 in Australia. The bike is a good clean running representation of this model which appears to be quite original, unmolested, unmodified with no repairs to the chassis. Going over the bike, i would think the bike has not seen a lot of work for its age compared to many others I’ve seen. The TZ came to me as a non runner and while putting it back together, have taken a few pics and put the barrel and head back on with new rings and gaskets. Does not appear the pistons have done much work either. Rebuilt rear brake caliper with new pistons and seals and new seal kit through the fuel tap. Parts that are not original are the front brake master cylinder, TZ350 cross over pipes, seat, 36mm Mikuni carbs and the aluminium belly has been fabricated to fit the crossover pipes. It has the 1H400 4 port barrel but i can put you in contact with someone who has a 6 port 3G3 barrel if you require it. Bike is located in South Australia. Cheers, Brett Metcalf $15,000 Aus.
04.01.2022 Atujara would like to thank Cresta Plastics for coming on board as a sponsor of the 2020 Shannons Collingrove Hillclimb. "Cresta Plastics specialises in custom injection moulding from concept to completion working closely with our customers to get the desired result. Since its foundation in 1968 Cresta Plastics has been a major supplier of plastic and rubber injection moulded parts at a fair price to its customers. Servicing a wide range of industries including the white good...s, defence, electronics and automotive to name just a few. In 2012 Cresta Plastics was taken over by Martin Lowe and Frank Habets, both long term employees of Cresta Plastics. Since 2012 the company has continued to grow with a strong focus on high quality parts and continuous improvement. It has always been very important to both management and staff at Cresta Plastics that as our business grew we were mindful of giving back to our local community." If you're looking for a company that's local, cares about the community and does professional standard work at a fair price then get in touch with Martin and Narelle at Cresta Plastics and they'll help you out. Thanks Martin and Narelle for helping Atujara put on this great event!
02.01.2022 The Mount Gambier MCC has unfortunately had to postpone the 2020 National Historic Road Race Championships with recent events happening around Australia. It's a shame for the club and all its members who have put in an extraordinary amount of work over the last 3 years to get the venue looking the best it ever has. It looks like they'll get a chance to run it in 2021 so we'll be there with bells on once all this COVID-19 is cleared up
