20.01.2022 POLICE allegedly seized $800,000 cash during a vehicle stop in Granville yesterday. Acting on information, officers from the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor Highway stopped a white Mercedes at the intersection of Arthur and Virginia Street, Rosehill, about 6pm, and during a search of the car allegedly seized a sports bag and black garage bag containing $800,000 cash, documentation and mobile phones. The 31-year-old male driver and 32-year-old male passenger were ...arrested and taken to Granville Police Station. A short time later, a search warrant was executed at a unit at William Street, Granville, where police allegedly seized a money counter, a large amount of documentation, an electronic stun device and an amount of white powder. A white Toyota Hilux was also searched, with officers seizing further documentation. All items located during the operation will undergo further examination. Both men were both charged with knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, while the older man was also charged with possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit. They were refused bail to reappear in court on Thursday, January 28. Investigations by the Criminal Groups Squad are continuing. 17.01.2022 DEFYING expectations, this year’s suicide rate has not spiked despite an ‘annus horribilis’ of drought and devastating bushfires followed by the economic shock of the Covid-19 pandemic. 15.01.2022 A TEENAGER has undergone surgery in hospital after he was shot at South Granville on Sunday afternoon in what police believe was another gangland shooting. Emergency services were called to Clyde Street at 1.40pm responding to reports of more than a dozen of shots being fired. A short time later, a 17-year-old youth was taken to Auburn Hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder before being transferred to Westmead Hospital, and he is reported to be in a stable condition. 11.01.2022 A MAN has been charged after a boy was allegedly sexually assaulted in Guildford West. Cumberland Police alleged the 11-year-old had been sexually assaulted by a man between January 2019 and December 2020 while at a gym in Guildford West. A member of the boy’s family notified police earlier this week and following inquiries detectives attended a home in Woodpark about 8.45pm yesterday (Tuesday, January 12) and arrested a 33-year-old man who was charged with aggravated sex assault - victim under the age of 16 years, and intentionally-sexually touch child between 10 and 16. 11.01.2022 A MAN was threatened with a knife and his car stolen at a carwash in Rosehill. Shortly after midnight (Tuesday, December 1), a man attended a carwash on James Rouse Drive, near Hassall Street, in his white Mercedes C200LS, registration number DWJ85N, and as he got out of the car, he was approached by two men, one armed with a knife. The men, described as Pacific Islander/Maori in appearance, threatened the owner before getting into his Mercedes and driving away. The owner was not hurt.
