25.01.2022 A request has been made to arrange Audax rides in the Burdekin and/or Ingham area to avoid riding on major highways. All suggestions are welcome. Sundays appears to be the most popular weekend option. What dates suit people best?

15.01.2022 First Townsville Permanent ride. (To be ratified) Short loop out via Kalynda Chase then Charters Towers & back for 300km ride. Start & finish in the city.

10.01.2022 Recon ride to Charters Towers tonight. Checking Gold City Roadhouse facilities and suitability as checkpoint. Reid River rest stop, Mingela Range rest stop & Sellheim roadhouses are other potential stops. 5:30pm start, aim to be home for breakfast at 9:30am Saturday morning.

08.01.2022 While it's not an Audax event, the 6th Transcontinental Bike Race starts 10pm Sunday (6am Monday Townsville time) Unlike Audax events, participants can select their own course for most of the trip. It's only the roads to the checkpoints where you must follow a set course. Estimated distance 3,800km Start: Muur van Geraardsbergen - Belgium... CP#1: Bielerhöhe Pass, Austria. 2,032m elevation 850km CP#2: Mangart saddle, Slovenia. 2,072m elevation 1,300km CP#3: Karkonosze Pass, Poland. 1,233m elevation 2,060km CP#4: Bielašnica, Bosnia. 2,023m elevation 3,120km Finish: Meteora, Greece. 3,800km This is a fully self-supported, single stage event. No outside assistance allowed. Participants use what they carry with them or what's available from local shops. Once started, the clock doesn't stop until you finish.
