21.01.2022 It’s official: RAIDs are back on the menu! The revised Audax Australia Ride Rules include updated RAID rules. Calendar and Permanent RAIDs can now be created and registered in the portal. The processes are the same as typical Calendar and Permanent rides. The Audax Australia Awards Policy has also been updated as RAIDs now count for annual and lifetime cumulative distance awards. ... The revised RAID rides are intended to be in the spirit of cycle touring with the Pyrenees and Alps RAIDs as prime examples. Similar to European RAIDs, Australian RAIDs should showcase inspiring cycle touring routes in Australia. Some of the Iconic RAIDs proposed include: The Mawson Trail - 900 km from Adelaide to Blinman SA Munda Biddi Trail - 1100 km from Mundaring to Albany WA Murray River RAID - 1740 km from Thredbo NSW to Adelaide SA The Great Ocean Road RAID - 1100 km from Adelaide SA to Melbourne Vic Questions? 20.01.2022 Audax update: Gravel Awards BG (Brevet Gravel) and BPG (Brevet Permanent Gravel) are rides with a minimum of 40% on unsealed surfaces and have really taken off over the past couple years. So Audax has responded with two all new awards! This season there are 2 new awards:... - Nouveau Gravel (50, 100, 150) - Gravel Series (100, 150, 200, 300) The rides must be completed within a single season within Australia, and riders may substitute a longer ride for a shorter ride. Both BGs and BPGs can be used for these awards.
18.01.2022 FYI for our Audax Victoria members.
18.01.2022 Audax Update: Calendar rides and Permanents As you are all aware, the Audax Australia calendar has been shut down and remains so since March. Regular reviews of this decision have been taking place by the National Committee and, given recent relaxing of restrictions for recreational activity, a decision is now available. With each region operating under different limitations and directions in terms of when what ride can be run when your best bet is to have a look at the A...udax Australia Framework for Resuming Rides (website link is now in the bio). We appreciate your patience in waiting for this notification. Hopefully, it won't be too long before we are al out there pounding out the BRM/BA/BG/Perm kms! https://audax.org.au/audax-australia-framework-for-resumin/
16.01.2022 To all Audax Victoria Members, I hope you and you family are all well and coping with the challenges that COVID-19 has forced upon us. As you will be aware, the COVID-19 restrictions have eased markedly in Regional Victoria whereas Melbourne residents are still confined to a 5KM radius from home with no definitive date as to when that might change. Because of this easing, and the uncertainty as to when Melbourne riders might be able to ride an Audax brevet, the Victorian Comm...ittee has decided to allow Regional Victoria residents to resume riding both Calendar and Permanent rides in Regional areas as from the 1st of October 2020. All rides will be run in accordance with the prevailing Government restrictions with respect to things such as the number of riders, wearing of masks, social distancing etc. Latest details are available here: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorias-restriction-levels-co Also please comply with the Audax framework for recommencing rides at: https://audax.org.au/audax-australia-framework-for-resuming Ride organisers will ultimately have the decision on whether they wish to run their rides. If, as a ride organiser, you decide that you would rather not run your ride in the current circumstances, please cancel your ride in the online calendar as soon as possible. I hope that everyone in Victoria can get back to riding again soon. It would be nice if we could start the new Audax calendar at the start of November with all of us able to participate. Here’s hoping
10.01.2022 Audax Queensland invites you to Ral's Rocky Gully Ramble! The 200km ride takes in the Brisbane Valley town of Esk, the Lockyer Valley town of Gatton, and the culinary delights of Barb's kitchen at Minden. The short version misses the gastronomic wonderland that is Barb's kitchen but traverses the same scenic roads around Atkinson's Dam.
06.01.2022 The 2021 calendar is up and there are some fantastic rides coming up! If you want help boosting your event, please send an email to [email protected] (with the details of your event and a picture) to have your event featured on the Audax Australia social media accounts.
