The dance of the Kurathis or mountain gypsies, a traditional folk-dance from Southern India, is popular among classical dancers. Choreographed by Arshia Rajeshnarayanan and performed along with Swathi Jaisankar, both the dancers infuse energetic folk movements of Kurathi dance into basic movement patterns of Bharatanatyam. The dance depicts the presence of Lord Vishnu within every being and conveys the overarching message of equality among all living beings. 22.01.2022 Police are investigating if a carjacking at knifepoint at Pendle Hill is linked to an attempted robbery at Wentworthville overnight. The first incident occurred shortly before 4:40pm yesterday (Monday 17 August 2020), when a couple parked their white Toyota Camry on Pendle Way near intersection of Civic Lane, Pendle Hill. A 34-year-old woman remained in the vehicle while her husband went to a shop nearby.... Police have been told a teenage boy got into the drivers seat and threatened the woman with a knife telling her to get out of the vehicle. She complied and the car was driven away. Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command were called to the scene and commenced an investigation into the theft. About 9.30pm, a 25-year-old man was walking with two friends along Garfield Street at Wentworthville when a teenage boy got out of a white Toyota Camry and threatened them with a knife, demanding cash. The man shoved the teen in the chest and he ran away. Police were alerted and are now investigating if the two incidents are linked. Investigators are appealing for anyone with information about either incident, or who may have seen the white Camry, NSW registration, AV33AO, to contact Merrylands Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Police are warning the public that if the vehicle is seen, NOT to approach it but to call Triple Zero (000) immediately. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report crime via NSW Police social media pages.
