17.01.2022 "...hearing aids have greatly improved over the years as researchers have come to better understand that the ear is not a linear system, and a form of nonlinear compression is needed to match the sounds generated to the listener’s capability." The complexity of the brain and how we process sound is discussed in this article featured in The Conversation.

15.01.2022 For people with hearing loss face masks are adding extra challenges: It's harder to understand people when they're speaking with a mask on their face. The facemask may tug on their hearing aids and cause other problems.... One of my patients recently commented that it’s a big challenge to have glasses, hearing aids and masks all on the ears and he is finding it hard to remove his mask without the hearing aids also coming off. The challenge is even greater for people with multiple disabilities. Today I saw Ariskar , she was almost into tears as she has very small face and ears due to her unique congenital disability which is making it very challenging to put on mask with the hearing aids. Her ears feel very tired and heavy adding to her overall anxiety due to other unavoidable difficulties she faces. She is also constantly worried about loosing her hearing aids. No tips are working for her. Can we request an exemption for Ariskar from facemasks? If Yes, whom do we contact for it? I am always For masks... but I wish we can find a solution to reduce Ariskar’s anxiety . P.S: Patient consent obtained to use her name and the video on this platform. 04.01.2022 Under new guidelines we are allowed face to face consultations only for patients who fit in following groups: Department of Veteran Affairs Work Cover Transport Accident Commission... National Disability Insurance Scheme Patients needing repair and maintenance for hearing aids For all other groups - Telehealth is the only option. We will be discussing the matter further with the government to get some clarity on how to provide services for our vulnerable patients who may be disadvantaged if not seen face to face. Keeping in mind the safety of everyone, we have added more layers of PPE (as seen below ) for the face to face appointments and very strict infection control protocols for our clinics. We will be doing our best to deliver our essential services in a safe environment without putting anyone’s health at risk.

03.01.2022 Knowing that our tinnitus management has helped someone find relief from their debilitating tinnitus is the best compliment we could receive. Thankyou Manning Townson for the feedback. We hope to be able to change everyone’s perception about tinnitus management.
