25.01.2022 Looking for an Admin Superstar... https://www.seek.com.au/job/50280841
25.01.2022 Ahh the media stereotypes... Each person's experience is unique and can also depend on the number of "spoons" available at any given time. A more helpful idea: listening to understand and appreciating all people just as they are, where they are.... This is how we support ourselves and others to thrive. xxx
22.01.2022 Wow! This is how we rise above - so much respect to this man.
21.01.2022 Qualities that are appreciated and sought after in every thriving workplace!
20.01.2022 Thank you to The Rainbow Clinic for the shout out! I've had the pleasure of working weekly with this team for the last 3 years and love their passion, values, and fun crash mats to have meetings on!
16.01.2022 Ahh 2020 - giving us new opportunities to stay home when we just don't have the spoons to face the world...
15.01.2022 I've always LOVED dress-ups! On reflection, with a neurodivergent lens, I realise that I've found it so much easier to be confident, social, fit in to whatever crowd I'm with and have fun, when I'm playing someone else. I've met a few Autistic girls who love cosplay or wearing creative make-up. In discussions, their words reflect mine above. It's so much easier to be comfortable in a social situation when wearing our personal suits of armour.... So what about you? Dress-ups yay or nay?
14.01.2022 Hang in there...
09.01.2022 Absolutely agree!! The grown-up employer looks for successful achievement of outcomes, not for successfully sitting in an office for the required amount of time!
07.01.2022 For those who may have wondered what I mean when I talk about "spoons", this article explains it perfectly. It's a helpful concept for workplaces too, where systems can be implemented to support the most efficient use of spoons.
06.01.2022 Today is a combination of home-ed with my daughter (student-led learning) and working on Audir. Having some great conversations about neurodiversity, self-awareness, the process of dyeing hair, science and colour theory, customer service, ideas for our clients* (Abbiss Hair - L has some cool ideas for you). Very grateful for this time with my 14 year old who is growing up so fast. Loving the connection we have when we're both doing the things we want to be doing, in the way... we do them best! Now let's all cross fingers this hair looks OK! (Alternatively, I have a great hairdresser who won't yell at me too much and will fix it!). #strengths #neurodivergence #neurodiversity #flexiblework #education *Our ADHD tangent conversations work for us although my husband struggles to keep up!
05.01.2022 This anecdote is the most beautiful depiction of how to change the narrative. I’ve felt this burst of absolute love for how my loved ones perceive the world (and I’m sure my parents exuded wonder and love like this about me too ). Imagine a workplace where it’s the norm to reframe communication to the needs of the individual - to take responsibility for how the message is delivered, rather than placing blame on the receiver. This is why Audir exists. Not to help businesses give lip service to acceptance but instead to foster change through systems and education. Where the strengths of each individual are leveraged and where people are safe to bring their authentic selves to work.
04.01.2022 Anxiety is something many of us have - and is currently exacerbated by the unknowns we are experiencing during Covid-19. For individuals, it's checking in with yourself and recognising how your anxiety is experienced, self-care and seeking support that works for you. As employers, we can listen to our people, understand unique experiences and discuss ways in which we can provide individual support.... For the businesses I partner with, this support includes: - providing psychological safety in the workplace - a range of flexible work options - an Employee Assistance Program - regular check-ins Investing in a mentally healthy and supportive workplace will deliver significant returns: ethically, individually AND for your bottom line.
04.01.2022 Small talk is something I struggle with- and something I feel less need to attempt to engage in now that the mask I was so unaware of is slipping away. Genuinely connecting with others through sharing knowledge and passions is what brings me pure joy and deep friendships. Thank you Reframing Autism
02.01.2022 "Love on the spectrum" - a reality series with the good intentions of educating others. However, as this article shows, for many Autistic people, it has missed the mark. The attached article provides important insights for all- not least of which is the importance of listening to all voices, communicating clearly to each other and taking the time to love and appreciate all neurotypes. #strengths #actuallyautistic #communication... https://www.cosmopolitan.com//love-on-the-spectrum-netfli/
